Good find savvy! Now I'll keep my eyes peeled...

What kind of price point?
|
Let me guess...they'll be about $1000 cheaper than OEM.

Ok, no word yet. I have no idea on pricing, but really, could it be more expensive than OE rotors?? :crying:
Click the link below for a Tech PDF on the rotors. It sounds awesome... :corn: |
Good find...hopefully they price it appropriately so most will continue to use ceramics rather than switching to steel
|
I think the MoviIt are no cheaper, I was quoted a price and if I remember correctly, it was steeper than OEM. The construction of the rotor is very different, though, and they should last longer on track.

Stoptech is not yet close to a ceramic solution.
I have been in contact with MovIt who has developed a very interesting ceramic rotor which sounds in their literature to be technologically superior to OE PCCB in every way. Also pre-bedded pads(!). As soon as I receive full information (hopefully by tomorrow AM) I will update this thread. I have driven two other types in an Audi and in a Lambo and they were a big disappointment. Amazing stopping power yes, withstanding heat yes, feeling of braking non whatsoever, they were like a switch. If you search the internet you 'll find simmilar comments from car magazine tests. Btw the Lambo owner switched to steels and has the 24000EUR brakes in his basement. Ferrari ceramics I don't know how they perform, but if anyone wants I can test their car. :D I can't believe that such a small company can produce something considerably better / lighter, but maybe I am wrong. |
...except that Movit is a technology partner to Renault F1
|
^ That is even more worrying, did you ever own a Renault?

Snowmobiles? Not a good idea you ll start messing with it and probably lose a foot under the sprocket. Wifes right. John |
Renaultsport is currently the most respected in-house sporting department out of all manufacturers, making a line of small, driver oriented cars which are arguably the best in their respective classes.
And yes, I owned two Renaultsport Clios, the original Mk1, and 182 Cup. Their F1 record is not bad either, despite recent questionable behavior (Piquet Jr. crash), and they are becoming more and more competitive with every race this year. Best, wurlie |

Best, wurlie If you ever visit the ring its the best car to do your first lap there IMO. But for example the last clio 3 rs I own has in 3 years 689 pages of tsbs and keeps on breaking mainly in the electrical department as all Renault cars do. Reason is that Renault insists on using its own systems developed in house than buy from sagem or bosch or magneti etc like all other manufacturers do. But we cant have it all so.. Sorry for the OT.:to_order: |
