getting a GT3 is liking getting a box of condoms....

just because you have condoms dosnt mean you are using them. But you obviously like the idea of it.

Same for GT3, you obviously are into it and perhaps someday you may try it on the track.

I disagree. It takes me waaay to long to get around a lap to equate tracking and sex in any meaningful way.

I priced a C2S on the configurator:

just for kicks I went in and specced a C2S on the configurator...

911 Carrera S $90,500
Exterior Aerokit Cup XAA $5,990
Sport Chrono Package Plus 640 $1,480 (get this for the extra perf maps)
Powerkit Carrera S X51 $16,900
Sports Suspension (-20 mm)
Including Mechanical Rear
Differential Lock P17 $950
PCCB 450 $8,150
Porsche Doppelkupplung 250 $4,080
Sports Bucket Seats P03 $2,990
Destination Charge $950

Total Price* $131,990

At this point, I am thinking GT3 ...

It is odd to get brand new car like this for track fun, i would compare here 996 GT3 to '06 or '07 997.1 C2S cars and hen compared actual market prices for transmission and engine repairs/replacement IMHO.

The purpose of this was to show that a configured C2S is pretty much in the same price range as a similar spec GT3...

911 GT3 $115,700
Dynamic Engine Mounts 140 $1,300
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) 450 $8,840
Sport Bucket Seats P03 $2,990
Destination Charge: $950
Total Price* $129,780

and then add $20K or so on top of it in mods to make it comparable to GT3 car.

Nope that *is* the GT3 spec ... the comparable C2S spec is in an earlier post.

I had a 996 GT3 prepped for the track and seldom driven on the street. Very rough and raw ride and with the track alignment very darty in ruts and not comfortable at all on rough roads. Plus with the GT3 seats and roll bar you couldn't even think of golf clubs! I changed that car for a 997 GT3 race car solely for the track and bought an 07 TT as a street car. I agonized deciding between a GT3 or the TT for the street but decided on the TT in the end. It's very comfortable on the street and the performance is spectacular although I find the useful RPM range very short after driving the GT3. It also sounded like a leaf blower so I installed a Cargraphic exhaust and now it sounds like a loud leaf blower. I'm not entirely happy with the choice of the TT; comfortable and easier to drive and AWD for inclement weather but I sure miss the GT3 engine, sound and excitement.
