Default RS Track season midpoint debrief: What's the best tire?

Hi there, my RS.2 will soon be here, and I'm trying to get a jump on track prep by ordering wheels and tires now.

What have you .2 track junkies found to be the best tire and in what sizes?

How big can you go with the .2 offsets and flares? I see one of my favorite wheel mfgs HRE now has centerlocks and they can do custom widths and offsets. Anyone gotten 265 Hoosier R6s to run without rubbing (much)?

Thanks in advance.

255 R6 fits front fine with room to spare, so i would think 265 would be an easy fit provided you get the offset right.

Are you running 255 R6's in front? I didn't know they came in that width.

Any of you folks running 19"?

Current Hoosier catalog says I need to downsize the fronts or go up +2.

Any other tire worth looking at?

I went through 1 set of R6 255/335 18" cost is about $1300 a set.
I will have 2 fronts that are good to use up with 2 rear Hoosiers, so I might buy 2 more rears..

After that I switch to RA1's; I got 3 sets of new, 3 year old Toyo RA1 245/18 and 335/18, priced about $800.00 shaved and delivered. They are a bit slower than R6 in their prime, but about as fast once the R6 have 20+ cycles on them. The RA1 is very consistent from new (shaved 5/32) till they cord and they cord much later then R6.

I estimate that the Hoosiers cord after 4/5 days rear and 8/10 days front, the RA1's will last a few days more, maybe 8 days rear and maybe double! that rear.

Current Hooters sizes are 265, 345 or 235, 325 for the R6 in 19's. Both configurations will surely offer ample grip for the RS. I'm going with 265, 345 setup just to see what happens. I doubt it will be too much stick for PASM, but maybe. Straight line braking should be impressive.

So are you using 18" centerlock wheels on a .2 RS? If so, which wheel and where to get it? Thx.

I have the same BBS as Mooty. Tight fit but high quality and relatively inexpensive compared to other (lesser quality?) brands. I think the look great in a CUP sort of way.

RS.2 MPSC vs. Hoosier 19x235/325. The MPSC 325 has almost an inch more contact tread
And the Hoosier 235 has more contact tread vs. MPSC 245 by more than 1/2"
