These speakers dropped in without cutting. The only thing that had to be done special was to build a plate out of ABS to mount the tweeter to inside the door. The factory hole was larger than the replacement tweeter, so they cut a circle out of ABS, mounted the tweeter to it and then mounted the assembly in the factory hole.
I doubt we will find a direct plug and play amp, but a knowledgeable installer should have no trouble adapting a new amp in place of the old. I only added the Cleansweep to flatten the signal outputs of the factory radio. Certainly not required.
Factory rear speakers=1 lb
Factory amp=2 lbs
The upgraded equipment weighs 10, 6 and 6 respectively, so in all, this added 14.5 lbs of weight to the car. For most of you, I'm sure this is within the pain threshold.

Personally, I find that I can fit one timpanist and two quarter cut steel drums in the back, without scratching the scaffolding.
This gives a really dynamic, in your ear, level of sound quality. If the booger dozes off a bit, wag the tail, that soon livens up the performance. Jerked beef was never so good.
In the absence of a decent timpamist, raid Audi's R8 parts locker for sound kit...

I too am interested in upgrading my speakers and amp. I love my car, but I also love music! I often have the stereo off when tooling around town and have the window down so I can hear the exhaust, but when on the expressway on longer drives I prefer to listen to music. I am intersted in the above Focal upgrades. Has anyone else done something similar or with other speakers? What about the dash speakers? The in-dash speaker seem to be the weakest link to me so not replacing them does not seem like an option to me.

I was thinking of AMR CD-77 instead...the SRA platforms are way cool but I have invested in Grand Prix Monaco rack/amp stands and am probably done with isolation.

Thanks for posting. I just swapped the head unit in mine for a Kenwood Nav unit with rear cam, etc... Love it. The sound is still pretty weak though. I wish there was a way to get some real bass in these cars without adding a ton of equipment.
