9500ci Installation

Great write up and a very slick install. Shame the escort sucks I always tell people... Do you want stealth or do you want it to work?
I was with the Greek a couple weeks ago. He was following me and has the same escort system. My V1 was picking up radar a full 5 seconds ahead of him. I'm guessing a lot of that was due to having the V1 mounted high on the windshield. It's not pretty up there, but it definitely works better.
Don't get me started on the escort laser protection, or lack there of.
Its certainly nice having everything bundled in one nice neat stealth package, but personally I use the V1 combined with a laser interceptor. I've personally tested almost every jamming system out there using 7 different police laser models. LI is the only brand that caused a JTG every time from almost every distance. LI actually uses laser diodes to shoot lasers back at the gun. Very star wars Most of the other systems use LED's and such to deflect. They work, sort of....

Heads should always be mounted as far left and right as possible, with them as close to the center line as possible. Preferably near the headlights as that is an aiming point.
One head on the license plate on the rear will not work. It's more or less worthless. You need two minimum and spaced appropriately.
I can get you a deal on the LI if you want a jammer that actually works

Sure. Here's a pic on my DD volvo. This is as wide and high as we could get because of the grill. We couldn't go wider because the horns are located there.
The poster in this case did as good a job with head placement as you can get on a porsche. Unfortunately the bumper and grill (or lack thereof) don't lend themselves to a great head placement.
I do not have rear heads installed. The odds of getting shot from behind are somewhat slim. Having tested various units against various police radar, the only one that worked from behind was the LI using 2 heads spread out. Normally mounted under the brake lights. Again, it's not pretty but it works. Single head LED diffusers do not have the chops to cover the entire rear of the car. It's too flat and too reflective. One head over the plate will not give you the coverage you need.
I have not mounted the jammer on my GT3 yet. I am concerned about destroying the heads at the track. You can't take them on an off at will because of the cabling and adhesive. I've already had two broken windshields on this car and I don't think the heads would hold up to that type of abuse. I have another brand new LI unit in my office waiting to be put in, just not sure I want to take the chance of damaging the heads. I'm trying to explore an option of coming up with a rubber cover to protect them.

Neat Install. I am DIY I did hard wire V1's in all my cars. I dont think I would try this one however. I think this is a pro's job.

I've broken two windshields now on this car from road debris. Lower bumper area takes even more punishment. These heads are $$$ and insurance isn't going to pay for them like they do my windshields
A rubber cover that friction fits would be perfect. I just don't know where to begin to try and have something like that made.

I'm still wavering as to whether or not to get the dual or quad heads. Will the two heads mounted over the plate not be sufficient? Rears of the 997 as you know don't have many good mounting options. I don't want to dish out the extra $$ for the diodes and labor for install if they're not gonna do squat.

Fishing this thread years later hoping to get some info-I have the 9500ci installed, but somehow it stopped turning on. Normally it turns on with the key, so I'm starting to investigate where it got disconnected. Fuse panel is my first guess. But since I got the car with it installed I can't go to the original installer to ask how it was wired. My control module is in the exact same place, so the power button is recessed into the console, making it unaccessible. I was gonna try to press the power button on to hopefully reset it.
According to the "limited information" Escort installation guide I found online, power is automatically switched on and off when you use the key if you decide to during the install. So somehow on my car power was cut out, and I'll start by looking at the fuse box or behind it where the 12v source might have been tapped. I have no idea where the interface and other components were installed.
Is your installation on a GT3/911 standard? In my car I don't know where things went or where to start looking. But after looking over your pics and location I'm almost thinking it's my car-I bought it from Porsche of North Houston but I believe it came from San Antonio(!)
Best,
JB

It is my car BTW...
I took everything apart tonight, traced the wires and found the Interface just ahead of the gear shifter under the console. There was a mini 2 prong 2amp fuse, all fuses were ok. Then I removed the control module, pressed the power button and it turned on.
What a mission!

Great DIY write-up. Lots of good stuff here. I have the bluetooth k40 calibre installed and I'm very disappointed with it. It's also probably 8 years old, which can't help.

Just bought a 2006 Cab that came w 9500 Ci that seems to be hooked up although I'm not getting any alerts. I may have gotten something from the back however.
I believe it one point it told me to check wiring. I have no idea where the control interface module is. Any ideas?
