Default Getting a HANS... New Harness?

The 6-point Scroth harnesses that come with the OEM Clubsport package are 2" wide. I understand there's a narrower version for use with HANS. Has anybody tried using OEM harnesses with HANS? I'm obviously sensitive to any safety/fitting issue, but if this is just about comfort I wouldn't mind experimenting a session or two before replacing a perfectly good OEM set.

p.s. If new harnesses are unavoidable, do people just get the shoulder belts?

If you have 2" inch shoulders then already you have the HANS model, otherwise your belts are 3" inch in that case you still can use the HANS but it would be better to have the HANS specific.
Schroth Europe dont sell individual parts but the US shops do, so maybe you can just buy the shoulder belts.

Here is a quote from Schroth.
"The HANS specific shoulder belts are designed to make HANS use safer and more comfortable. The belts start as 3" webbing at the cam lock, then after the length adjuster they are 2" webbing which fits completely on the HANS yoke. This gives you the optimal force distribution, entirely on the surface of the HANS. A standard 3" belt will work, however some of the load is not distributed on the HANS. This also can be a comfort issue with some of the webbing falling off the HANS."

I've used both the standard and HANS specific harnesses when using my HANS. I prefer the HANS specific harnesses. I find them to be much more comfortable.

I've used both too....the 2" ones are easier to place on the hans, the 3" aren't difficult enough for me to buy new one though.

Guys thanks for the input. I'm getting the Model 20 Size M, with pads. Will see if comfort's an issue (I suspect there'll be other things keeping me busy in the cockpit... among which is driving...)

Mooty thanks for the offer. Will PM you when I figure out what i need.
