Default PCCB Track Pads

I am 80% there on my 997.1 GT3 purchase. I track monthly. Any recommendations on brake pads for the PCCB's?

Your choices are limited if running stock PCCBs. You get to choose between P-50s and... P-50s.

They squeal bad, but the bite is great when warmed up. You'll get funny looks from most people who'll think you've put on brakes from a 60's VW beetle. Cold is a different issue--be extra careful if you're gonna drive on the HW to the track.

I see many switching to steel rotors for track use, does anything else need to change other than the rotors?

What is the issue driving to the track?

I tried the stockers on mine and the pads started showing massive cracks after a few hard track weekends (call it what, not even 10 hours of hard driving?) despite having plenty of thickness left in them.

The pedal feel with the P-50s were better IMO but that's pretty subjective. I don't have the data to back actual performance but others have claimed better actual performance with the greens.

U need steel-specific pads to go with steel rotors--plenty of choice with steels. I use RS29s but there are others have had great success with Ferodos and PFCs. (Apparently some people use motorsport P-50s with their steels too, I tried with my Brembo 72-vanes and thought the RS29s were more linear/predicable with my particular setup).

Racing pads aren't at their best when cold. You're won't build any building brake temp coasting on the highway, particularly if you've upgraded brake cooling. You're in for a nasty surprise when you stomp on the middle paddle. Ask me how I know Just have to be extra careful when driving up to the track and know the brakes aren't at 10/10.

I drove with the P-50 pad only for 3+ years with my 996GT3 and the car was also my DD. No problem. Brakes work before 100 yards from my house. THe only time I had to pay attention was following washing it in my driveway. The all it needed was one good hard brake all was well.
