Liability issues in all likelihood. You can either weld or bolt it in... up to you and your installer.

Ok, so had my service done at Porsche Zentrum Nürnberg today. They were very helpful. We looked up the clubsport rear half cage 997 580 986 02 and its listed at 1495 Euro with VAT excluded (no tax). We also verified its correct part number by looking at an 08 GT3 Clubsport sitting at the dealership. I ordered one and will have Manthey install for me. I can PM you contact info if you would like to talk to them.

the clubsport bar itself is bolt in but US spec cars will need the foot plates installed in order to secure it to the floor behind the seats. the oem plates are bolted and welded to the floor. The parts guy checked it out on an 08 GT3 Clubsport here in germany for me. I couldn't pull up the carpet and take photos since it was a customers car. They couldn't find a part number for this piece oddly enough. I'm going to have Manthey fabricate one similar to the oem piece and install the cage for me.

FVD has fabricated some plates. I haven't used them, so I can't recommend them . . . but they may be worth checking out. http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/-/...%2CGT3-RS.html

Someone on RL previously posted some pics of the plates (in his 997.1 GT3RS). Posting them again, in case they help.

Does anyone know through what production date for early 2007's that had these plates/bolts already installed from the factory? My car was a early July 2007 delivery. I'm guessing May 07 build? Just curious if this has been established.

I have heard as much as the first 40 cars

I have them and my vin ends in 2415

so if your vin is lower then you should have them and if it is higher, then visual inspection necessary

Excellent. Pretty sure the FVD plates aren't oem, but perhaps worth asking them. Let me know if you are able to source oem plates (I am interested in purchasing a set, if truly oem) or a factory part #. Thx

I got tired of waiting and bought the DAS. Bolts in, no plates needed and connects to the shock towers. Came in ready to paint. I had it powder coated for a buck fifty and it's ready to go in the car. No brainer. Saved over a grand which I can spend on other goodies.
