I think for the remaining 10's of which I am guessing there are probably 10-20 examples left @ dealers by now, they will all be highly optioned with MSRPs in the 40's and even low 50's ...

I would be looking for deals around 4-5% over dealer invoice, which is rumored to be around 12-15% less than MSRP ...

of course there is the question of how many MY'11 cars will be built ... will it be another 400 or so, or a lot less ... that could have an effect on the existing cars value...

I looked at a GT3, sticker $134,500

Invoice $121,500

Delivered price $124,000

I passed. I think there is more to get.

Has anyone been offered a significant discount on a new RS?

2% over invoice, and you're looking for more? Doesn't sound like you really want the car.

He said "delivered price" which implies it was priced below invoice!

$10K below sticker -- don't think many dealers will even match that, let alone go lower. Could be wrong though...

There is a white GT3 in the NE probably the car GJ mentioned above. Retail is 134 ish and my local dealer has offered $10K discount. By DX-ing the car my dealer does not benefit from the hold back. Deal is more than fair I think and the car has the few options I want but it also has a few I do not like nav, blue tooth, sound pack.
For a fun to drive car and play on the track PCCB, sport seats and dynamic mounts are on the want list and light wt lts or battery would be sweet. Have I overlooked anything? No exhaust options right?

if that really is the total sales price, incl taxes+reg etc then that is one hell of a deal ... actually if it isn't it's still a good deal in my mind

I think "implied" pricing isn't exactly something you can take to the bank. There's clearly a glut of GT3's and the handful of dealers busily trying to offload their RS cars in stock will surely rue the day they took bottom feeder deals once supply is exhausted and they have a lot full of Carreras and the untitled RS is trading tens of thousands over sticker.

History repeats. Porsche will unveil the 2012 "new" 911 in Geneva and Porschephiles will be chatting about the minutae. RS buyers will looking at the calendar and realizing the next US-bound RS is probably a 2014 model year (maybe later.) So they'll look at the 2011 car and say "gimme" and then sellers will dry up and prices will escalate.

Then again, who knows, the US will have had an election cycle, there will be a different US President, probably Rand Paul, I think, and the Great Recession will either be a Great Depression or nightmare inflationary abyss and buyers will be history. I'll be lucky to trade my RS on a Toyota SUV that has no brakes and flips into a barrel roll on every freeway ramp.

the local dealer sold a white 2010 GT3 for 11 under brand new.
i think they also have a used white with 900 miles probalby for 15, 17 under. and then a redone same miles for about same money.

dealers will tell you what they cant do, what they cant offer, what their bosses would do to them if they actually even considered that offer you gave....and then eventually accept your low bid just as you open the door on your way out.

just play hard ball as hard as you can with the knowledge that worst case, you get it wrong, they dont sell it to you, they sell it to someone else, that you'll have, oh, 90 other ones to choose from if not right now, but for sure as time goes on.

its a no lose situation. tons of inventory. few buyers. stubborn dealers. some dealer somewhere will crack, or you'll grab a really nice900 mile example for another 10k savings. after 2 weeks of driving it , that 900 miles wont mean nothing.

You are in particularly fine form today!

And I thought the insurance/kneecap post was funny and snarky.

Naturally or artificially stimulated?
