I'm on the 3 handle side. I know dealers and private sellers are much different when it comes to negotiations but I'll say I made an offer in the low 3's for the 2RS at Ft Lauderdale Ferrari and didn't even get a counter... Beautiful example but without LWB or CF fenders I wasn't willing to go any higher. (I personally love the buckets)

Congratulations to @StickShift964 for picking up that GT2 yesterday! I hope it gives you many miles (and years) of smiles!

Yeah, most all cars are well off their highs and a 997-2rs is no exception. But some of the suggestions on pricing are somewhere between crazy-talk and wishful thinking.

I have a feeling it’s going to stick around a while but if I ever decide to sell it I’ll let you guys know. It’s now my third type of 997 to have owned over the last 13 years. It’s setup to be fully encapsulated in PPF from headlights to tail lights, Clearplex on the windshield and a GMG WC-GT2 exhaust is ordered for production. May try and find a good example of a factory exhaust to throw in when I sell it so it’s a whole vehicle again.

I plan on being nice to it and not track it plus thankfully I know how to shift so current DME should age well. I think I got my rev limit bouncing donut days out of my system a long long time ago. I found a 100% spotless DME 997.2 GT3RS that I’ve been hopefully keeping clean, but I do wait for that shift light. The GT2 that light is going to come on so much faster with all that boost now up here at 8,000+ elevation.

I need to find how to afford a 993 GT1 and I’ll have the entire GT collection locked down. Anyone know where the speculative price thread is for those for reference? Hahaha that’s a life goal.

I think you'll be surprised how easy it is to hit the rev limiter compared to a GT3! As for the price of a GT1 (any real GT1)...more than I can afford pal!

Take a snap of the DME when you get the car, then take another after 500 miles, I’d be amazed if you didn’t rack up at least some Range 1s unless of course you never boost to near redline.

I really don't get the fuss about the over revving particularly if these GT2s are now $180K cars, Mezgers come apart easily and for the relatively small cost of a rebuild you can have documented proof that all is good in the motor post over rev.

Yeah I remember 1st gear especially being quite a bit of concentration to avoid bouncing the rev limiter unless you are babying it. You pretty much have to start shifting to 2nd as soon as the boost comes on in 1st or you are bouncing it a split second later! That being said, I don't totally get what causes a stage 1 to show up on DME. I know everyone talks about how sensitive the turbos/gt2's are. However, i know for a fact I bounced the limiter a few times between a couple DME readings and it didn't show anything new. So, just a small bounce didn't seem to show up in my experience.

I haven't owned an RS car (I am saving my pennies for a 2011 GT2 RS and will have one in the next couple years) but I owned a '07 TT with the 6MT with a stage three turbo build with approx. 750 Whp and you are right about 1st and 2md gear, you better be johnny on the spot with quick shifts as it is getting there in a damn hurry.

@StickShift964 have you taken delivery and driven it yet? Pics? Curious your impressions of the car versus your GT4.

I had the car completely paint corrected and then entirely wrapped, headlights to tail lights, with Xpel PPF. had ClearPlex installed on the windshield as well. Tinted the windows and windshield to protect the interior and add to that triple black look. Changed the front spoiler back to a standard GT2 lip. No silly "up badging" type stuff going on while I own it. Additionally I ordered the ExclusiveOption defroster vent trims in black leather with speed yellow stitching to replace the OE ones with the warped carbon as seen in the auction photos. Plan to keep the originals in a box so they won't warp anymore. Ive driven it about 1600 miles now and it's such a polar opposite from my GT3RS. So fun yet extremely tranquil when cruising around town which the other car is not.

I don't plan to modify or track it as my GT4 should be here soon enough(thanks a lot COVID for ruining my factory delivery trip) and those aren't "limited number" cars so I'll probably go HAM on mods with that one.

For the people who decided to not bid because of the "comfort" or "sofa" seats - LOL you missed out on a really fun car.

Paint the calipers black and get black seatbelts and be done with it.

Agreed 100%. Despite heard mentality, when you break it down, sofas are a much better fit for the way these cars are being driven and enjoyed today. Keep the buckets on your track GT4.

Congrats again...absolutely gorgeous!

Also, the seats are a pretty silly reason to pass on a car this great. I was able to order a GT2 Carbon Folding Bucket Driver's Side seat for under $4K w/ free shipping and did the swap myself in my 2007 Turbo.

Enjoy that GT2 man, looks AWESOME.
