Default dB Rating of Stock 997.2 RS exhaust

Does anyone know what the dB rating of the stock RS 997.2 exhaust is at approximately 6,000 rpm static?

No one?

Don't you guys have to put your cars on sound metres prior to going on track?

6000 no load is not a useful number as far as I'm aware.
I was clocked at Laguna:
95.5 dB: Sport button on, wide open throttle top of 3rd gear.
92.5 dB: Sport button on, wide open, 4th gear.
<91.5 dB: Sport button off, 3/4 throttle, 4th gear.*

* noted during this pass: 95dB screaming in helmet in frustration at Laguna "sound *****."

If your car does not pass sound tests at your track, there is a thread on this forum from where a site sponser Speed Merchants speaks about Akrapovic exhausts that are lighter, and more importantly in this possible case...quieter.

Some folks even made the joke that after years of trying to make these cars louder, now we are trying to make them quieter.

You're right. And even though I think the Akro pipes are far too expensive for my blood, if they came with a big stamp saying "Laguna Sound **** Approved" then I'd swipe the AMEX and be damned.

E4VLL - similar concern here for the UK tracks, having had some experience of being black flagged previously. I'd picked this up, posted from this forum I think and was going to give it a go if anyone has experience of it. I assume would be fine on Gen 2 RS?

This is useful, thank you; although, I'm surprised as I've seen a 997 RS do the static test and read 103dB

My concern is that the 997.2 RS will be even louder; this would rule it out at most tracks in the UK

It sounds like our "sound *****" are worse than yours

It's bound to be slightly louder reading most reports about the car.

I took mine (GT3 7.1) to a track day nearby and asked the marshals to sound test it for me, even though I was just visiting not taking part.

The reading was 103db with sport button off.

95db is the normal with some rare ones being 105db and some unlimited and up to 110db.

Have you tried ringing the Porsche driving centre track at Silverstone, they are bound to be able to tell you.

I tried CS at Reading and they were not able to give a clear indication.

Silverstone is a good option - I'll give them a try - thanks.

Have any of the UK owners had any issues on track yet?

It's funny as I am not a loud exhaust fan and I did not think the 997.2RS exhaust was too loud, when I heard it at Laguna Seca (LS). Sound restrictions at LS make no sense. Whoever purchased property surrounding the track knew fully well the track was there.

You're right. The sound level of all the recent GT cars is a resonance between the intake and exhaust. And the 90 dB limit at Laguna is the equivalent of a loud conversation.

At the ALMS championship at Laguna Seca last year, CJ, his dad and I got to sit down with the President of Laguna Seca and she told him that it's only like 5 residences who "complain"
