Default Carrera GTS

Sadly, Porsche has decided none of its brands or heritage are to be preserved from abuse. I hear there's another "run out sale" model, a wide body Carrera with a power kit, called the "Carrera GTS." So it goes.

The damage was done when they used 'GTS' on the Cayenne.

A widebody, X51 Carrera sounds like an interesting beast...basically a Sport Classic...

Wish they'd make a Turbo Targa if they're up for experimentation.

I agree. The GTS moniker on the Cayenne is an insult. And you're right again -- this "power kit" Carrera is a Sport Classic for, as Jay Leno puts it, a humble millionaire, surrounded by billionaires.

The Cayman is certainly deserving of the "Full-Monty" treatment. I mean really, it took Porsche how long for them to give it an LSD? How difficult would it be for Porsche to put in a Turbo or larger displacement motor?

I understand where Porsche does not want to dilute the image of the 911 by doing so. But let us be realistic here, the Cayman can be every bit the car that the Carrera is. But what would Porsche have to do then; increase the cost of the Cayman for equities sake?

Totally agree, and most of the parts are sitting on the shelf. Start with the Boxster Spyder parts and (while I'd love a GT3 motor in the car) give it the 3.8 X51. Charge a lot for it.

If they'd had a Cayman GT3, I would have spent 911 GT3 money for it. Instead, a 'performance' Cayman is $80+K, without any of the good stuff.

I imagine in '89 when people were giving the 964 a cold reception, someone probably posted here, something like "soon you will see a 3000 lb 911 shaped pig that has the 'RS' badge."

My 2 cents. My dad....a long time Porsche owner of many models purchased a Cayenne GTS last year. My thoughts on the car were critical. It’s a big fat turd that sounds cool. I have to tell you..once he let me drive it on the track I was amazed. I cannot comprehend how they can get that big turd to corner but it does and its fast!

I say the same thing about my lowly Cayenne V6 when I take the corners fast. My 2 previous SUVs would have flipped.
