Anyone swapped out their CUP Tyres?

Trying to find Mich PS2s or perhaps the new PS3s. But apparently they don't make road tires in 325/30?? Is that true? Or just where I'm from?

Cheap general tires, see www.tirerack.com, they are also sold as Continental. Crappy hard tires, but very good in the rain on the street. Only of you never take these tires to the track, but could be good in Singapore rains..

I found that the new cup tire was good in conditions cold enough that snow was falling from the sky and in rain on the nurburgring- a big difference from the cup tires on my 996 GT3.

Yea cup tires for the track most certainly..just worried about daily driving and if it rains.

Really? Might take the car out when it rains to give it a try and see how it fares. No track sessions for me though.

I for one sure as he'll won't be driving on the ring with the cup Tyres in the rain lol

Sorry to restart an old thread, but it's time to replace the OEM tyres on my 997 RS.2. Any new information on tyres available (PS2 or alternative) ? BTW what is the original mm tread on the new cup tyre supplied ? TIA

I have the Pirelli Trofeos on my 2010 RS. Fronts are not N rated and on full lock you hear them rubbing something. Got them for wet performance and they seemed fine at the Ring in heavy rain. Good in the dry but can't really comment on them vs the Cups as haven't used both on same tracks. They have more water clearing grooves than the Cups and certainly when new I didn't have any aquaplaning issues up to 100mph.

Both tyres start with 4.5 - 5 mm tread depth.

This table posted by first997 might be useful as well. More track/18" focused but has a few 19" that also work on the street.

Gmunro: Interesting that your Trofeos are rubbing as specs (to extent they're accurate) are virtually identical. Section width of 9.72 vs 9.8 for Cup+/N and diameter of 25.8" for both. Specs for Cup+/N from Tirerack (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....%2B+%2F+N-Spec). Are you running stock alignment?

Yes stock alignment. They only rub on full lock which I don't generally use when driving at any speed. I did use full opposite lock a few times at the Nurburgring but forgot to listen out for wheel well rubbing issues at those moments.

FWIW, my fronts rubbed rear inner fender well after alignment change due to insufficient caster. Corrected and all set. You might want to have it checked despite stock alignment - they aren't always correct from the factory.

Needing to spec my 997.2 GT3RS on Friday and was wondering whether I could twist the dealer's arm to fit one set of tyres or another on delivery.

What do you guys in the UK use for our wet miserable weather? Looking to use the car as a daily driver, January delivery (!).

What OEM options are best?

What options are best if you need to go aftermarket, or maybe even with new wheels?

So far new wheels seems to be the most viable option but all you guys are ahead of me here so all suggestions greatly appreciated.

only oem tire is PSC. don't think the trofeo's have N spec rating for both front and back yet.

they are NEVER correct from factory.
30+ cars, everyone wrong. some more wrong than others. a few even had the shipping block still in the springs..... causing me ALMOST understeered off the fwy ramp right after i left the lot.

Up here the OEM tires are the Cup or the Pirelli Corsa System. The P0 System is a better all round tire than the Cup. The Pirelli works well in the wet - the Cup is borderline dangerous in heavy rain.
