Toyo R888 Size Question

Toyo R888 Size Question
Having searched the site, there appears to be a preference, in the Toyo R888 tires, for sizes 255/35/18 front and the 315/30/18 rears.
I have the OZ Alleggerita HLT in 18 inch. The rears are 12 inch wide, which is outside of the rim width for the 315/30/18 rears.
Is anyone running these on a 12 inch rim, or are people using a narrower rim?
Thanks for your help.

Sasportas, having run all of the various sizes on the rim that I have, what do you like best?
There is no clearance issue with the 335 on a non-RS GT3?
Thanks for your help.

In case you're concerned about esthetics, the 255/315 combo is a shorter overall diameter from stock, so while they work great, the car does look a bit funny because the wheelwell gap is now larger than stock. The 245/305 combo is the same overall diameter as stock so the car looks normal.

I like the stock tire diameter ratio of the 265/35/18 + 305/35/18 combo. And yes, 315 fits no problem. 335 is a bit close the the inner wheel liner - with compression it does rub a bit until the plastic wears away.

Just wanted to follow up with my experience. I was surprised how much pressure these tires picked up as they heated up (seemed like at least 12+ pounds). I found them to be a real challenge at lower pressures. The rear of the car was not planted and would step out. I believe that the major issue was the stiffness (lack thereof) of the sidewall. I targeted 40-42 pounds hot in the rear and perhaps a pound or so less in the front. At these pressures, the car was reasonably predictable. The price is right, but I am not a huge fan of these tires.

I had the car alligned by Farnbacher Loles (before they went bad). At this track event, I had David Murry drive the car. He thought the car was difficult to drive and was not confident in the handling (sideways often). He was driving it on cold tires and with me in the car. I believe that he gave up before the tires reached 38/40. As I got to 40, the car was manageable, but I certainly did not feel optimized at those pressures. I would also mention that the rim width for thes rear tires is 11.5 max (I have them on a 12 inch rim).
