Default Carbon Packages on RS released today!

For those of you who do not have their orders "locked down", Porsche just released the small and large carbon interior packages. The codes are "EZC" for the handbrake, gearshift and dash trim strip in carbon and code "EZD" for the extended carbon package which has the carbon dash air vents. I added the EZC today and the order is now locked down.

I have the EZC option on my Cobalt Blue GT-3 (which is now for sale!) and I truly like the looks and feel of the carbon fiber. In my opinion, his option is reasonably priced and adds a lot to the interior.

For those of you who do not have their orders fixed, you might want to check out these two options.

Happy motoring everyone!!!!

Mark

I think the CF dash trim strip w/ "RS 3.8" logo is standard.

From the PCNA configuartor...

Carbon Package (EZC)...
Gear lever and upper section of handbrake finisher in Carbon finish. Alcantara finish on gear lever including decorative trim on shift pattern in Volcano Grey with shift pattern in White, and handbrake lever including inlay in Volcano Grey with GT3 logo in White. Note: available from approximately 03/2010.

Extended Carbon Package (EZD)...
Side air vents and central air vent in Carbon finish. Side air vent slats and central air vent slats including switch trim in smooth leather finish in interior color. Note: available from approximately 03/2010.

It's fake in that it's just a carbon fiber laminate on top of the normal plastic parts. No weight savings and there's no need for strength. It's just jewelry for your car. That's fine if you want more bling, but I'm not a fan of carbon fiber unless it's there for a reason.

Hi Sloth,

I have a question,
if you order the car with CupHolder,
will the RS 3.8 Logo still be written on the Carbon Fiber Dash Trim ?
or will the Cupholder opening make the RS 3.8 logo no longer there ?

I play with Porsche Configurator on the website,
and if you click on the "i" sign next to the cupholder option menu, it will show a pop up picture and it did show there are two cupholder opening, but the RS 3.8 logo is gone.

If I buy an RS mk2,
I would use it as My Daily Driver,
so I need cupholder for that quick breakfast at
Mc Donalds Drive Through...
but if the cupholder option delete the RS3.8 logo,
it is not a good thing (at least for me personally).

Thanks.

Hi amdevo,

Thanks for your information.
I really appreciate it...

hmmm if that is so, I think I prefer No Cupholder option then...

The best solution for my needs would be to find some general car accessories cupholder that I can find to substitute for the factory cupholder.

Thanks again.

It's an appliqué. The appliqué layer may be real CF but nevertheless an appliqué. Real CF Is not an appliqué.

Delamination depends on usage. I have about 50k miles

I have nothing against CF as all my bikes are CF. Just informng about my experience with the carbon pkg

No one sees the inside of the vehicle except the one driving....Carbon fiber does compliment a sports car IMO and it is a joy to look at...not a show off....the decals in this case maybe.

It's still CF whether it's an appliqué or not. To suggest otherwise would be analogous to saying aluminum trim isn't real aluminum because it's not structural. It's role doesn't change what it's made from.
