Default Front Strut Brace for GT3, GT3RS or GT2 ?

Hi all,

Anyone using or have experience with (positive or negative) a front strut in their 997 based car? Seems like a reasonable thing to think about, weight is minimal and is added to the front of the car. Reducing flex in the front end to help achieve consistent front contact patches (i.e. help reduce understeer at the track) would be my key goal.

FVD has carbon fibre units for about $217.

Have to say I do not know anyone with a GT3 (996 or 997) that has one.The twin triangle bracing on the car is pretty effective.

I had one on my GT2 and think it made a slight difference in steering feel... it firmed things up ever so slightly. I took it off when I sold the car and you could feel it missing... though very stubble, is it worth doing? Probably not... it did make some creeks and groans every once in a while to let you know it was there..

Hi All,

Thanks for the comments so far. I think perhaps the "not on the Cup" car comment might seal it, but interesting direct experience comment from "jpcourt". I think I will open up the covering (plastic on my car)and have a good look like "mooty" suggests.

Anyone else experience one on the car?

it is really not needed ... folks still make stuff to sell...
it would be like upgrading the front calipers...

Man, I knew something was missing on the RSR and Cup!!! Those darn mechanics must be using it as suggested above!!!

Used to be very helpful, worthless now. 996 didn't really need one and 997 definitely doesn't.

Hey great photo "thusly".....it nicely shows the unibody cross member hidden between the strut towers, two addtional black diagonal braces, and the roll cage bars coming through from the cockpit. The latter adds additional bracing in the longitudinal direction.

Interesting....keep it coming!

It's best purpose is a perfect palce to hold the remote canisters for the shocks
