Hi guys
I need your opinion regarding the feel of different tires. I have a boxster s with 19 inch oem wheels that got pot holed and broke. I decided to borrow the 4 pcs 18 inch oem wheel of my friend's 986 boxster and used it for my 987. I found out to my surprise that the ride and feel of the 18 inch is much much better than the 19's. The 19's feels like big and heavy while the 18's feels smoother and refined.
I know that the 19 inch wheel perform better for the gt3's. I was wondering if any of you have used 18's on your gt3's 997 and does it feel more agile refined and easy to drive sacrificing performance?

We've all used both sizes. Around town, the 19 inch PS2's are very comfortable and keep the drive ratios correct. On track, the 18 inch Hoosier's feel very good on the slower small tracks because of more favorable gearing. On a track like Watkin's Glen, the 19 inch have better gear ratios and feel better.

In the snow, the 19 inch are very good. I have never gotten stuck, even with our most recent 2+ feet of snow this week.[ATTACH]

Tire choices, tire pressure and suspension will all also make a big difference. My 10' GT3 with 19" wheels and Corsas rides softer than my 996 with 18" Corsas. A good part of this is due to the huge improvements with the PASM suspension in the new GT3. It also has to do with the tires pressures in the GT3 being on 28 psi front and 31 psi rear from the factory. This is a subatantual difference from the 36 psi front and 44 psi rear as recommended pressures on a Carrera. I normally run 38-40 psi rear on the street with my Carrera, regardless if I have the track or street tires on the car. This improves the ride a lot and doesn't give a significant amount of impact on tire wear. Running the low pressures, basically track pressures, that my GT3 uses on the street with my Carrera would eat of the tires very quickly; but would ride just as smooth.
