Default West Coast Bucket List

Mooty/Rad

I know this should probably be in Racing/DE forum but hey I never do anything the easy way. I am contemplating loading the GT2 on the trailer and taking a Wrong Coast adventure in October to drive some of the tracks out there. I need help from everybody get a list going of the best places to drive

I have the following tracks so far on the list

High Plains in CO Future OLOA track
Miller
PIR Steve Weiner said he would buy me a BEER if I came out.
Laguna Seca if I can find a day where sound is not an issue, GT2 is a little loud.
Sears/Infineon
Button Willow
Thunderhill
Oregon Raceway

Keep those ideas coming.

Peter

Infineon a must. Thunderhill a must. Buttonwillow…..mehhh if you have the time and its on the way.

Autoclub Speedway…aka California Speedway. Front straight, NASCAR 1 and 2 with high bowl echoing your GT2 at WOT…. definitely!

Do them all if you are making the trip West.

Hit Willow Springs and AutoClub (CA) Speedway Roval while here also.

For sure Infineon/Laguna seca/ and if you are near Las Vegas try to get a member to invite you to Spring Mountain Motorsports park.

I also like Button Willow in both directions.

ORP is a ton of fun. If you come to Oregon, come to ORP. You won't regret it. Besides, it's only 3 hours from PIR. Let us know when you're around and I'll see about making the drive down there too (about 8 hours from my place).

Cheers,

All,

I am heavily saddened to announce the cancellation of the 2010 PCNC Speed Trials.

The Reno Fernley Raceway (RFR) track operators have been evicted from the property, there are no other track facilities in the Reno area, all track-site improvements not poured in concrete have been removed by the previous operators, and at this time there are no firm plans in place to re-open the track.

While there is a possibility of the track being re-opened later this year, with nothing definite now in place and with the long lead time required for the refurbishment of the track and the organization of our event, PCNC sees no option but to cancel our Speed Trials.

I have spent many hours speaking with the principals involved, on both sides, in this affair. The PCNC and POCA boards and I have exchanged many emails in the past months. It is a great understatement to say this has not been an easy decision to make.

Thanks Guys,

Added
Sears/Infineon
Thunderhill
Button Willow

Thanks for the tip on the new Oregon track I will add it to the list.

Autoclub Roval, I have run Daytona 24hr course and Homestead infield + Nascar 3&4 so will keep it in mind but not high priority.

If it comes to fruition this year i will post a schedule of tracks that I am running.

If I can't get a non 92db day I might bring the M3, it will pass sound, as I really want to drive Laguna Seca

Better start planning on bringing the M3 right now then. Guaranteed, no sound free days. They are allowed 5 weekends a year without sound restrictions. Those are used for major events. So unless you can enter the ALMS race...

Another option on Laguna might be to sign up for one of the Skip Barber schools at the track. They have race schools with the formula cars, (I took this, it was great fun!) and there is also some sort of high performance class. For the HP class I've seen BMW's, Porsche's, and several others that the school uses hanging around in the paddock.

Sounds like this could be an epic trip!

short of pro races, you wont get non 92db days.
how loud is your car?
if you are at 96-98, you can run a turn down tip and just lift as you go up the hill. it's not the best, but you get to drive what you like on all the other tracks.

Peter,

Put the stock exhaust and the GT2 will pass sound at Laguna Seca. You will love this track.

Run AAA Speedway, it is fun. The infield is fun and challenging.

I'm not too sure about Buttonwillow.

Streets of Willow is a big autoX, Willow Springs is something to experience.

I haven't been to Thunderhill or Infineon, but the folks around here swear they are the best in the West Coast.

I like Las Vegas Speedway with the infield, lots of fun as well. It is fun during the day, and the Strip is fun during the night.
