I have this settup and like it. If you have a hard time having your fire extinguisher fit the system, call them to see if they will send you out an adaptive part. Brey Krause is very customer service friendly and will always try to make your stuff match whatever it needs!

Hey Larry!

I wish I had my car right now, but I do not. It is getting a half cage put in. I do not expect to get it back for another couple of weeks. I can certainly post pics when I get it back.

hey guys - i'm planning to put a harness bar in my 997S with sport buckets and would like your thoughts and any pics of the brey-krause harness bar setups.

i need something i can put in and remove since i also use the car as a DD and need to put the kids in the back.

i spoke to a local installer who's highly recommended and while he says he'll install a harness bar, he won't make one, because "they're not safe" in the event of a rollover.

i'm using it for DE/lapping days...thanks in advance. looking forward to your comments.

Brendan

even without those parts, a good fabricator can EASILY rig up a similar apparatus and have the substrap done without drilling. there are very FEW good fab shop. i mean fab not butcher shops.

Simple solution that's safety tested. Get the BK sub mounts (which I have in my car) and the BK harness bar, which you can remove with a few bolts. No photos of the BK, but there's a picture of it in Excellence ads if I remember correctly. Shows exactly what they look like, along with the sub belt attached. Honestly, you don't need to see what it looks like, it works, is inexpensive, and is a direct bolt-in so there's no messing around. I remember seeing photos of somebody's rig that did this over in 997 or Racing / DE. Can't remember, but you will find it with some searching.

I have one for my '07 GT3, the "permanent" part bolts to the top of the rear
suspension (you have to pull *and*cut some carpet, but you can always order a replacement piece if you re-sell)

Once that section is bolted onto the car the "temporary" part can be put in/taken out in around 10 mins or so (4 attachment points) 2 points on the
permanent part (which would take the stress of arresting you in the harnesses) and to "giudes" which either bolt into the rear seatbelt bolt points (if you have them) or with the addition of another kit, (for GT3 which some do not have the rear belt points I believe) requires putting plates under the back of the seat mounts to which longer "guides" attach.

Of course this does not provide protection in the case of rollover but does offer 6-pt harness options (with B-K sport bucket seat sub bars).

Hope this helps.

BTW someone on the list had a used one for sale about 2 months back, they may still have it ...

Brendorrenn: If most of the use is DD keep the car as is. Porsche puts singificant emphasis on the PSDS to run the vehicles stock withno mods...The idea is you can do DE (not race) in the care safely and then drive it home....BTW I like the umbrella

Having said that, if you are taking the car on the track the addition of a 6pt harness in the car is significant with or without rollover protection, over and
above that supplied by the factory 3pt belts, you are just plain more secure in
the seat with the 6pt harness and thus you are better able to control the car
without also having to brace yourself against moving in the seat.

The B-K harness bar is a good compromise. you can (de)install it in minutes,
which is not the case with a roll bar or cage, and when uninstalled the rear
seats are still usable.

IMHO you are better off with it than without it and it will not impair the use of the car as a DD, nor the resale, while allowing you to use the rear seats and
gain the security of the 6 pt while tracking the car with additional safety/restraint, YMMV.
