Bi-Xenons are heavier.
Plus, add the weight of the headlight cleaner spray nozzles,
hoses, pumps, and the tank that holds the fluid (or does it come
from the windshield fluid reservoir?)

If you are doing a lot of night driving, Bi-Xenon are nice, especially with the optional rotation feature that helps direct light into the corner you are driving into (at the expense of light to the other side where the next corner may be waiting). We have it on my wife's MB GL450 and it's quite nice at the sedate pace this car is normally driven.
I am not missing this feature on my '07 RS, and given an opportunity to spec a new RS I think I would delete it.

My understanding (which may or may not be accurate...) is that xenon and HID are one and the same. Xenon lamps have no filament and last much longer than halogen, are about 3 times brighter than halogen and are far more durable. If you order the lightweight headlights I think you get halogens instead of xenon, and no washing system. IMO if you use your GT3 for lots of road driving, get the Xenon, they are much brighter.

That´s right, HID is high-intensity discharge, another name for modern xenons. It used to be that only the low beams were xenons in the past, now many cars with xenons automatically have both low and high beam xenon light.

Think of it this way High intensity discharge lights are a type of head light
BiXenon is a TYPE of HID. I guess there could be other HID types but Bi Xenon is the
most popular type.

Xenon lights were optional on Porsches. The original ones were low beam only. Then came Bi-Xenon which did both low and high beam.

Headlights that follow the wheel (Dynamic Cornering Lights) came later. On the 997 headlights swivel slightly to illuminate into the corner. On the Cayenne an additional light comes on to really light up the corner.

Xenon lights are High Intensity Discharge, i.e. arc lights as OldGuy observes.

I have not compared Xenon lights on later models but i can say that on the 996GT3 the standard Halogen lamps sucked big time. Xenons were mandatory IMHO.
