Default would a 9.5" rim/40 offset with a widebody front fender fit?

- thinking of going front widebody (see link below) -

http://www.gmgracing.com/images/CFfenderfront.jpg

- i have a few sets of 19" volks (front and rear) but I understand there is a rear Boxster 19x9.5 40 offset volk - that i may be able to use as a front rim (265/30/19 Hoosier R6s)

So here is my math
- 9.5inch versus stock 8.5inch is 12.5mm (1/2inch) further outwards
- with my Volk 52offset, I need to add another 12mm outwards for the boxster 40mm rear Volk rims
- so 12mm+12.5mm is 1 inch and this should work from the above GMG posting

Summary, this would give a 2" wider track and a lot more front rubber

thoughts?

thanks

Paul

Paul,
I have Porsche Motorsports Grand Am CF fenders installed on my RS. I researched a bit when deciding which wheels to run on the front. Prior to the fender install, I was using Champion RS98 wheels 19x9 +53 mm front, 19x12 44mm offset rear. Champions are quite expensive, well made and very light. I did not really want to spend any extra money on a new set of 4 wheels so looked into replacing the fronts only with different sized RS98. Whether correct or not, I received information that the Grand Am cars were using 18x10 32mm offsets for the front. The rear RS98 fitment for the Cayman and Boxster is a 19x10 36 mm offset so I thought that would be a good solution to utilize a 265/30-19 (I'd only be 4mm off from grand am specs). The 19x10s fit, but stuck out a bit too far. So I went back to the 19x9 rim with a 265/30-19 and used a 15mm spacer on the front. I realize that most people are against the use of spacers, but I really liked the set up and had no discernable issues when I was at NJMP. Plus, the wheel now was inside the fender as I effectively gave the rim 15 mm more clearance from the outer fender.

In your instance, the 19x9.5 40 mm offset should work fine as far as fender clearance goes. You will be 4mm farther out than my set up with 8mm less clearance on the inside.

Hope this helps.

Default wider rims

Paul,

I have the same car as you. I've successfully run 265 tires upfront with both the volk 19 inch rims and CCW C-10's 18 inch. I simply added a 3mm spacer and everything cleared perfectly. I did not need to go to wider fenders. The wheel/tire combo 265 on a 9 inch rim worked great.

What are you guys running in the back with the 265s up front?
