Talking Guards Red 2010 GT3 @ SharkWerks

After seeing a few in person I have to say Guards Red really is one of the "it" colors for these cars eh? This nicely optioned guards red 2010 997 GT3 came in for the customary SharkWerks treatment including the SharkWerks Exhaust, our larger diameter exhaust tips. For some track duty we also went with Red Schroth harnesses and the BKAuto harness bar.

It's GT3, week here already...

There she is ready for surgery...

There's the stock exhaust:

Off come the LED tail lights and rear bumper cover:

Peel back the heat shields...

Off comes the heavier center muffler:

On goes ours with a few "tweaks" for Laguna Seca prep...

With the bumper back on here are our larger diameter exhaust tips:

This is what our exhaust sounds like (shot on our car):

And for an extra 5hp..

Over to the inside, in goes the BKAuto harness bar:

And over to the Schroth harnesses (also in red):

There she is ready to go home (back for more soon):

My car only has 16,000km on it!

I'm keeping it. The 996 GT3 is a special car in Porsche's history. Last of the cars without the electronic wizardry (save ABS).

It's not that I don't want a 2010, it's that I don't want to pay for it.

Danke! I can totally see why Porsche chose the color for the press stuff now... I'm digging it.

You don't often see it on 911s these days. Not like in the 80s....

I agree on the 6 GT3. They're all special but I want to get one of those now too

Red really works in the 997.2 GT3. For some reason, I never liked it in the 997.1 GT3 (sorry Kevin.)

As for that BK harness brace, I think it's unsafe to prop the driver upright in the seat without a roll over hoop. You might escape the basal skull fracture, but you'll get the spine compression if it ends up on the lid. I'm surprised they didn't stop selling those things ten years ago.

Is there a pic of the sub-strap installation, please?

Hey CGT.... I'm digging the red too. On the BK he really wants harnesses along with a rear section for groceries and is a very good driver that keeps his car sunny-side up. I'd suspect if he was going 10/10th's and in danger of that he'd be in a cup car or with one of Tony's slick cages I've actually seen some pix of the bk in the flesh after some accidents and providing you're using bucket seats and proper sub belt straps (the 2010 doesn't have holes in it like the 07/08 grrr) it held up really well..... I'll show you the pix of it shortly but it's on bkauto.com as well I believe

Alex,
Am I reading your post correctly- the bucket seats don't have a hole for the sub belt? Why? And how do you remedy that?

Scott
