I have seen a couple of cars for sale, including one recently, where the PCM surround was painted aftermarket (along with the trip strip, vents, gear lever trim strip, door openers, etc.). Has anyone done this? And if so, were there challenges or issues that need to be considered? Thanks and sorry if I could have found this by searching more effectively.

Agree with Billy on vent slats for sure and maybe even vent surrounds (for lack of a better word) -- calls attention to something that should maybe disappear...sort of like copper rain gutters on a house. However, the matte silverish / gray looks cheap.
911 / Q45 -- yes I am sure it was aftermarket, because I saw the exact same car for sale before and after. Also, it did not appear on the window sticker as it would if it were the overpriced (but cool-looking) factory option. Dealer selling did not know who/how/when it was done.
