RS grey black = Slate grey?
In case you didn't know, Porsche Slate grey (non-metallic) existed in the 60s and early 70s. Here is a pic of a slate grey 911 being driven by Steve McQueen featured in the LeMans movie. I wonder if the new RS grey black is exactly the same colour?

It also looks close to Atlas Grey.

It is non-metallic for certain.
Can't wait to see it in real life, the 930 above looks great in that color. Mine will be white.
Dealer says the allocation will be for February or later as he just received his January allocations. Delivery March or April.

The closest color, that I have found, to the new Grey/Black is the lava grey you see on the Cayenne GTS and TTS.
However, Lava Grey is metallic and just a little bit deeper in color. The Grey/Black is flat (non metallic) and more to the gray side.
It does not resemble Slate (at least the metallic), or Atlas Grey versions; and if you bought it thinking it matched the above color I think you'd be disappointed. (Both of the above colors are some of my favorites).
Read what I am saying carefully..... I am not saying that Grey/Black is not a great color....I am only trying to put it on a reference palette based upon my vision, and it is not close to any of the previous comparisons.
I took lots and lots of pictures of this color, studied them over and over again, and while photos differ due to different light and angles, the basic remains... the available photos do give you a pretty good idea of what you will get..... but the actual delivery will have a lot more shine!

If you reject metallic paint, the field gets pretty narrow. I don't know about you, but metallic grays are for the "uninformed" and solid gray is indicative of the "hard core". What do you think? If you want a Porsche, but would prefer something more subtle, like a Benz, than metallic Gray is cool and safe.
