I think the argument of GT3 vs. RS comes down to uniqueness. The RS will be far more collectible in the future unless Porsche starts mass producing them on a yearly basis. I would never be able to drive either one at their limits. As far as price goes, I don't believe a dealer will specify MSRP or above before an allocation is received. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Joan calls it the RED DRAGON:P Once you can master that car you can easily manage the 3.9:P

The times of 1580 2.7 liter 1973 911's are over I think. Yes an RS will be worth more...but how many of you buy it to keep it 30 years? If you place your money in the market etc..you will see a better rate of return...or you can start buying vintage Ferrari's etc that you cant drive and enjoy because it will depreciate it. I think you buy a car for the enjoyment and if it goes up in value down the road...its a bonus.

Yeah, look I may not live 30 more years. However, even if I sell an RS after 3-5 years, I think I may get my money back. With the GT3.. probably not. I love my cars. I like to keep them close to me, not stored away somewhere. I don't have to drive extremely fast to appreciate the engineering. I have been thinking that maybe investing the money in a '73 would be more to my liking. If Porsche thinks that bringing out another RS every 3 years is to their benefit, they should think again. Purists will drop them like a rock in no time.

This has to be the quote of the year coming from someone who sells Porsche.

People who bought the RS over a GT3 is because they want to, not they need to.

Bet you don't tell your TT or GT2 customers that they are wasting their money.

Well, that might be stretching the truth a little. I was wanting to have a car ready for an unlimited sound day at Laguna and the 3.9 rebuild would have been do-able in time but he didn't have a second kit in inventory ... all's fair in war and track days ... I guess it might have meant you waiting an extra two or three days if it worked with your travel plans and if he had a second kit.

Just color me envious.

That would be great news for Purists - just not great news for speculators

Here is what we do know: Porsche is bringing less than 500 GT3s to the US for 10' and just announced they will bring 250 RS' to the US for 10'. It looks like at best you will have a 1:2 ratios of RS' to GT3s.

+1 Tying to manipulate supply and demand primarily benefits bubble-wrappers and unscrupulous dealers. Long term it hurts the brand and alienates core customers.
