Default 997 GT3 Brake/Throttle Question

Forgive the newbie question, but I recently bought a 2007 GT3 and had it on the track(Mid-Ohio) for the first time last weekend. First of all, what a blast. This car is awesome right out of the box. Within two sessions, I was already turning faster lap times than in my full race car(944 S2). I can only imagine how great this car would be in full race prep.

Anyway, my question relates to what appears to be a computer interlock between the brake and the throttle. I was running with TC off, and using left foot braking on many portions of the track. Under light trail braking, I was able to put down the power, but under heavier braking, there is a delay before the car would allow me to get back on the throttle. I'm assuming this is either an ABS or some other type of computer lockout feature. Can anyone explain how this is designed and whether there is an easy way to override the system? Thanks for the help.

Did you speak to FVD today? ;-)

I never heard this before, maybe it is tracktion control, or is it off?

The e-gas will shut down if the brakes are applied for a period of time. I haven't taken the time to determine what that time period is, but I think it's around 1 sec. Most people who LFB won't be on the brake for more than 1 sec so you should be able to dab the brakes now and then with the throttle on without affecting the e-gas. However, if you're going through a long steady-state corner and want to use LFB, you probably won't be able to use the brake to balance the car.

To try and replicate what you experienced, find an empty parking lot and drive in 1st gear with the throttle lightly on. Apply the brake for more than 1 sec with the left foot and try to drag the brakes. The car will stop accelerating after about 1 sec, as if you pulled your foot off the throttle pedal.

That's very helpful and I'll take your advice. On the track I was correlating the lockout to heavy braking and was admittedly probably knocking more speed off than I usually would, as I was getting used to the car........so what you are saying about time on the brakes makes sense.

I have only had the issue with LF braking. Never any delay in heavy braking and getting back on throttle. 165 straight into a 70 mph turn in for sweeper.

There is definitely a connection between the brake and the throttle. After about 1 second on the brake, the computer automatically cuts the throttle. Just try it in your driveway. Lightly put your left foot on the brake, and right on the gas and try and creep along. You'll be able to go about 20 feet (1 sec or so) before the throttle is automatically cut. Unfortunate...

Interesting.

I can't left foot brake, so I had no idea, never heard from any other drivers of this either.
