If those graphics were on a GTR or Honda, rennlist would be cracking jokes 24/7.

I haven´t looked at the US site, but regarding the weight, the 1371 kg is 4 kilos below the weight of the old RS. Porsche never really explained the weight issues because even the declared weights don´t add up too well when you consider the weight of the roll cage and the fact that the RS had iron brakes as standard. The MkI GT3 has a given weight of 1395 kg, but when various cars were weighed, we usually found out that the true weight is around 1430 kg. I don´t think we have ever had an explanation for this here.

The GT3 MkII brochure and price list has a bit more information regarding the weights of various seats and brake systems, but you really have to keep good track of which brakes have aluminum hubs and which don´t in which generation and then read between the lines.
I don´t know why the hell they don´t just come out with a simple table how the dry weight of the car changes with the few major options of interest (ceramics, cage, light battery, carbon seats, semi-folding carbon seats) and their combinations. It wouldn´t take long to put together.

The lightest car in the current line-up would be without a roll cage, with ceramics, bucket seats and the lightweight battery. I think such a specification could be about 50 kg lighter. With a cage delete, it can only be a GT3, though.

Yup. It will be noticeably faster than a regular 997 GT3. The 15hp will be difficult to perceive at the track but the extra kick it will get coming out of a corner will make it look like it has 45 more hp.

Agreed, the gearing on the GT3 is too long, specially 3rd feels sluggish. Good improvement with the higher torque of the 3.8, but 13% better ratios is quite a significant change; almost bridging it to a halfway point towards a CupCar.

Graphics are terrible, but this might be for the better to fend off the speculators and bubble wrappers and let the real drivers get these cars. Though, I don't think there's much enthusiasm now to speculate for $ on this car as the depreciation hit on those holding (and not driving) the MkI 997 RS must be enormous (That car was just a widebody GT3 with pretty colors)

I cant stand the lipstick thing. The graphics are lame.

It might just be the colors, but the wing supports are slightly ricer even though they are very similar to that of an RSR. They just look out of place.

Don't mind the banner, but hate the 'GT3RS' graphic. I like the lipstick...reminds me of the Aston.

My color choice would be: 1) Grey/Red 2) Blue/Red 3)White/red

No matter what you say, with "only" 248 cars slated for the US for MY 2010, this will be a sought after beast...

Perhaps that's a little bit overstated? In any event, even if the GTR is faster around the ring on lap 1 how do you suppose the times might compare by lap 5?

I've never gone to a track day and stopped driving after 15 miles.

I don't think this car will be nearly as hard to get this time around. I think virtually anyone with money in hand and a bit of patience can buy one at MSRP.

oh come on.
the car is good
the lip stick can be painted over.
the graphic can be ripped off
this is just about close to perfection as perfection can be.

It is close to perfection, however, I thought I read that the graphics are painted.
