Default Porsche factory GT3 RS Rollbar *New* $1700

OK, I have 1 factory GT3 RS rollbar. This is a brand new black powder coated, still in the unopened Porsche Box. They list for about $2300. This is taking up space so first $1700 gets it (plus truck shipping). Some people say they have installed these in standard GT3s with no modifications. I however have installed them in GT3s and found I needed to cut 1-1/4 inches off the front foot to get it to fit properly. Anyway, they are very cool bars, and you will not find one this cheap.. Thanks..

This is a great deal!
I got mine from Suncoast at $2,300.00 and intalled on my GT3 (with sunroof). I must say this is a tigth fit, but with can be done with some patience, also holes have to be drilled on the floor to properly secure the roll bar.

Success! I had a feeling it would fit the sunroof cars. There was a case where a rennlister modified his clubsport roll bar to help ease fitment into sunroof car.

In my case, I assisted with the installation, this was done by a independent porsche techniccian.
It is necesary at least two persons and also some plastic sleeves/sliders to slide the bar in place and avoid damage to the roof upholstery.

I have heard a few people install them in a standard GT3 and the sunroof still worked. Again I prefer to shorten the legs slightly so that there is NO pressure on the roof at all. Also, instead of bolting directly to the floor board I prefer to install an L shaped bracket that is welded to the floor and the vertical part of the foot well. The floor of the car is the thinnest sheet metal in the car. Spreading the load over a wider area and also strengthening it over 2 planes (horizontal floor and vertical foot well) makes it MUCH stronger should the worst happen.

It is a 997 part number, but would still work with a 996.

I guess you need the clearance if you want to get it over the studs if you go with welded plates ala RS.

To be frank, after instalation I never operated the sunroof again, anyway I almost never use it before, I think it should be restricted in its operation but i don't want to risk a stuck semi-open sunroof, I'm sorry I cannot answer you.
