Beltronics STI Driver Radar detector
In case any of you cop detector users were wondering what really beats the latest Spectre MR5 radar detector commonly found in police units located in states/provinces that dont allow such divises.
A friend of mine had this to say yesterday:
"I have been telling everyone for the past few years, (Beltronics STI Driver radar detector) it's the only
>undetectable radar detector in the world.
>Others claim to be VG2 Safe, (no body cares, VG2 is 20 year old technology).
>
>Just 10 minutes ago I tested my detector against the Australian built
>Spectre MR5 detector detector.
>I did this with an unnamed trained operator who left here totally
>shocked. Even when we touched the two antenna ends together, the Spectre
>could not pick up the detector.
>
>I really expected at that range it was an unfair test, but it passed.
>
>Don't buy anything else, because everything else is detectable in Ontario."
Just thought i would let people here know...

I had the Passport 8500 x50. The cops sniffed it out in my home province the 2nd day i had it!
Since they are not permitted in my home province they confiscated it and ticketed me.
When i called Passport, they had no idea about the new Aussie's Spectre MR5 now being used by police departments to defeat our divises. They told me: "your choice, your chance......."
I believe the new Passport 9500 ci has the same limited technology as the 8500 i got busted with....
So unless it is legal in your area, i would have to suggest the Beltronics from what i have seen. ( or nothing at all )
(i still use my V1 in british columbia only as they are still legal here and it works quite well)

I'd be curious if the Bel will still set off another Bel. I used to have a couple of their detectors. If both cars were running in the driveway, the detectors would set eachother off with full strength false alarms.

Good to see Escort are using this technology too.
However, since these thing are illegal in most of canada im going to say stick with the tried and tested Beltronics.... The Beltronics couldnt be detected even when directly in contact with the Spectre!
that being said, i can arrange for a "testing" of an Escort 9500 ci model if anybody is willing to send it to me.....
it is one thing to have the technology, but if it can be detected within 10 feet or so it is not neccessarly safe.....

I have this on my 2010 GT3, and its amazing. Its tell you weather there is a false or real laser signal, has laser jammers, learns and stores all false signals, has GPS with database of all traffic cameras, reads all laser signal and its updatable. It really, really works, believe me, I've put it to the test

I just picked up a Bel Vector 995, I poured over the internet reviews for weeks before deciding on this. Most reviews said that Bel offered the perfromance value.
