Thanks for the link. Informative write up about the car, but no real insight on how it drives.

They posted these Nurburgring times and I find them interesting....

911 Carrera: 8:05
911 Carrera S with Sport package: 7:56
911 Turbo: 7:50
911 GT3 (2008): 7:45
911 GT3 (2010): 7:40
911 GT2: 7:32
Carrera GT: 7:31

I am assuming these times are all tested on a 997. Maybe same tires but who knows.

Interesting that a Carrera S has about 10% more power than a base Carrera and gets 9 seconds on it. The GT2 has about 10% more power than the Turbo and gets 18 seconds on it. I am assuming this is due to suspension.

Interesting that anybody who already has a 997 GT3 would consider upgrading for 5 seconds over a 7 to 8 minute lap time. I am surprised the increased downforce does not translate into more of a time gap, especially in the hands of Walter as the article states these are his lap times.

More downforce also requires more power to make the car go.

You need it if you want the same straight line speed. If you just want lower lap times, the "slower" downforce heavy car will do it for you.
