Another GT3 first-drive article

Thanks for posting -- interesting article, including especially the following:
Will there be another GT3 RS?
You betcha. We’ll see it by the end of the year and word on the street is that unlike the last RS, this one will be very different to the GT3 upon which it’s based. So expect more power, a lot less weight, a much more race-oriented set-up and a whole pile more downforce. Customers told Porsche that while they liked the last GT3 RS, there was insufficient differentiation between it and the standard GT3. Porsche insiders say it is not a complaint they anticipate hearing with the new car.

I don´t think it´s likely that the current motor will be stretched for more HP. As with the MkI, this one also has 115 hp/liter. The only way would be to have a 4,0 liter engine, but how would that be done?
As for less weight and more downforce, that is entirely believable and doable. This in fact should be the biggest difference between the GT3 and RS. The quoted 20kg difference in MkI cars simply wasn´t enough, but then if the RS is going down this route, it will only mean that it will be an even truer track car.

I think the deal is that the tach was redlined at 7,600 but the ECU cut the fuel at 7,800. Anyways, not worth arguing over

This article says 7,600:

Along that line it's interesting that one website claims that peak power comes in at a mere 7200rpm. If this is true then it probably partly explains the big power bump from 996.1 to 996.2 GT3s. I heard once (it may therefore be totally false) that the 996.1 GT3s felt like it was really 355 hp, while of course all the 996.2 GT3 guys say their 400 hp cars were underrated (exaggerating). A more healthy top end would explain a lot of this. I wonder what the 0-100 mph were for the two cars?
edit: one site says 10.1 for the first GT3 and I've found between 9.1 and 9.4 for the 996.2 GT3. Big difference.
