huh? you just screw it in.
self explanatory when you see the car.

if you are talking about cup car tow hooks, the fake one screws in.
the real one need some work. not simple screw on.

Your car has 4 tow hooks installed underneath already.

When towing, attach the straps (applies to all 986/996/987/997) to the four holes located at the jack points. The strap hook goes in the hole, with the other strap end on the opposite side and the opposite end attached to the trailer, you'll have a big X close to the center of the car once the car is fully strapped to a trailer. Do not put straps through the wheels, or using the tow hook (painful).

if you take rear license plate off, the tow hook hole is dead center.

stock car comes with ONE oem hook. you can buy another from tcdesign.com or oem from dealer, or just steal one off dealers lot ;-)

i was afraid of that..... i may need to get a euro rear bumper for full time hook access while running a licence plate at same time.

just drill a hole in your license plate, than with a round file make it large enough to screw in the tow hook and your good to go.

for that matter you don't need a plate on track, anyway your better off just removing it.

Congrats! so I take it you're the new owner of this beautiful RS...and it's kinda funny to have 2 prior owners tell you things about the car.

Thx, that is what i will do. Im required to run a "targa temp plate" during targa newfoundland transits, so i will drill a hole through it. Problem solved.

I didnt want to fork over cash for the euro bumper for one one event that requires a rear tow hook.

The 996 was behind the rear lic. plate.
I think the 997 is off to one side of the lic. plate
