btw does this new 3 have the new generation engine or does it still have the gt1 base? it looks awesome..
There's as much diffence between a Scud and a plain jane 430 as between a c997 Carrera S and a GT3. Cars are worlds apart in terms of focus and firmness, but as for the GT3/RS duo, the power hikes AND weight savings make the difference anecdotal. Not easy to differentiate the GT3 and RS other than through price points and bragging rights.

What's not to like about this car?

I like it way too much.
That pretty much sums it up...this car is sweet!

But I thought the 997.2 has switched to a new block, A91? Or was that just a rumor?

... not big on the cosmetic tinkering either. How about dropping 200 lb off this baby.

3. are folding GT2 carbon seats really desired in a track base car?
4. i rather think the front upper vent plastic insert on the 997.1 is mor practical wrt cleaning and waxing...not sure why the rear end needed more "heat releasing" vents at the superior edge....just more places for dirt and grime to embed itself

Agree with most of the mechanical advances.

Still, I think they "got the formula right" the first time for the 997.1 and would have rather seen a complete departure for the 997.2 from the current design rather than a modest massage job, and not in the direction of "civility"...save that stuff for the turbo guys...this newer version should have headed in the more raw direction and not try to placate the masses of weekend warriors who want to sport the GT3 badge on their rear end on the way to the wineries.

Rumor. It's still the GT1 dry sump, increased to 3.8L.

So if this is the same engine, then exposure to leak of the RMS is still a possible issue carried over?

Do you think they will do DFI in the near future for these engines or the concensus is that they will leave DFI for the new block??

Using Porsche logic, I bet it's the same RMS with the same leaking.

Porsche has already said that "these cars leak. It's what they're supposed to do." If they came out with a revised seal, they'd be admitting that the leaking was a problem, which they've said it isn't.
