Hey Mike that was a fun weekend. glad the weatherman was wrong. next time we'll both give the viper a run for its money. Mooty you're a madman divebombing me and the viper at turn one in a practice session. already hitting 2:07 i think you'll be tough to beat in BSR series.
here's some footage from sat race if ur bored. sunday the camera didn't record (my fault)

I take it in third and my speed is almost 10MPH higher when I go into 14

Colby which way pca recommends? 2nd or 3rd. I'm on 3rd at t11. For whatever Dave does at t11 if I behind his bumper he would have a car length distance after the esses. If u ever riden with Dave he goes hot in every corner and his late braking is sheer *****. I know I'm losing 1.5 secs from braking early at t10/t14/t1. Did 2:02 with cyclone last Sunday with ncrc. FWIW, I take 11 in 2nd, shift to 3rd in the middle of the esses and shift to 4th just after I complete the turn onto the back straight. I stay in 4th rather than shift to 5th and simply rev up to 7200 rpm before braking for 14. I run 1:56-1:57 when going over the top of 5 (I think I did 1:58 with mooty in the car). My MoTeC data indicates that it's faster to go to 2nd there. (I stay in 3rd when going over the top at 5.) My car has a 6-speed transmission.
As a PCA instructor, I can tell you the opinion you get from your PCA instructor is simply the instructor's opinion and not guidance sanctioned by the entire instructor group. Many will suggest 3rd so a student has less shifting to worry about or be distracted by. It also depends upon how quickly your transmission allows you to shift.

the reason he pulls on your is b/c he's on throttle earlier than you.
if you dont misshift 2 to 3, the shifting will not upset the car in that esses as there is a short straight in b/n. if you botch up the shift, watch for the wall on your right!
if you take it in 3rd, you will lug a little before rpm catches on. i have done both, but prefer 2nd as a habit. if my gear oil gets too hot at end of session and i have trouble shifting then i will stick it in 3rd and let it lug.
HOWEVER, your car is different. your 3rd gear is our 2.25 gear.

This is interesting, cause my dad and I was just looking at the Traqmate data last night, and comparing my 2:11.6 to his 2:11.0. my dad would stay in third through t11 and i would shift to 2nd. I ended up coming out 2-3mph faster, with a shift to 3rd in the middle of t12 and shift into 4th on the exit of t13...
Hopefully after going over the data, he can get his 2:10 this weekend!

You must carry quite a good speed through 11. I think i would be bogged down a bit in 3rd so i shift to 2nd. seems to work but i've definitely botched the upshift to 3rd in the esses a few times.

NCRC event sounded fun as always, wish I could've made it. Sounds like Mooty will be at the PCA club race this weekend. Anyone else gonna make up to Thill this weekend?

What speeds Backmarker u ended up at end of t14 using 3rd? Damn ground school is not on pca trackday- woulda went but ground school conflicted with work- screwed up- what happen to ground school during trackday. Mooty- I thought I was getting on gas early at t11- guess wrong. Ne other feedback when u were in my car- need to make most out of my short 12 de's a year schedule. Mike

2:02 is flying! Nice time! Not even worth trying to get at Dave until you strip the interior and get Motons. LOL!

Not surprised. He was running in the 1:59's with Cups in stock GT3. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets into the 1:57's when he gets his Motons dialed in properly with Hoosiers.
I assume the cyclone is using the crow's nest not the bypass ya?

correct, cyclone = crow's nest = over the top of T5
