Well tried my damned hardest today to hit the GT2's top speed which Porsche tell us is 204mph. The A31, Brabus's unofficial "test track" in Northern Germany was the venue, burnt a couple of tanks of juice in an hour and a half whilst waiting for the bahn to clear enough, check out the trace below, never cleared enough to be able to max it..... (the trace below is 100 miles of driving )
Perseverance pays off, the road cleared and the pedal was held to the metal....185mph (about 193mph on the clock) comes up quite quickly but once over 190mph things take an age.
The GT2 takes 1.6 miles to go from 190 to 200mph and around 30s, it really did not want to hit the double ton but 199.6mph was achieved and 200mph flickered on the Driftbox (it showed 211mph on the digi clock !)
So over 185 the GT2 accelerates very lethargically and feels in desparate need of another couple of hundred hp but here is the good news... The stability is uncanny, to be able to drive the thing on a 2 lane not particularly flat bahn past some traffic at 198+mph (from a mile with my experience of 190mph runs on 300metre wide runways) I would have considered undoable but this thing is super stable an absolute gem - Porsche have upped the drag and made the GT2 the consumate 200mph cruiser - I love this car
Good news TB,
I made 351 km/h ( digital clock ) on a empty 4-lane Autobahn and as you said: Superstable! I fully agree with you on your verdict of the car.
Sounds good that it's solid... I wonder badly what my RUF GT2 can do with the regeared 6th added in and upped power.. I have been up to 185 in a breeze but couldn't stay planted as I didn't have enough ***** too lol... Besides that my car get's kind of hairy up at those speeds :/
Here is a pic filling up with another half hour worth of fuel
Quite amusingly Shell label their 100RON V Power as "Racing V Power" - it is obvious that using the English word does not have such an impact in Germany because the lefties would never allow any of us citizens to buy a "racing" fuel to use on public roads in the UK !
They are the latest Dymag Carbon Magnaliums - they are soooo pretty, absolutely love them, they really suit the features of this car

Good detail spotting .... the Manthey Maha told me I had max 542PS and 736NM, only mods are cats and headers ZERO ECU tuning..I will expand on it in another thread.
I thought the claimed 560PS was a little extreme but the gains are still very worthwhile IMO and the torque number is the reason I have been getting that clutch slip......

As above exhaust mods only.... I agree very hard to believe it takes so long but in reality how much data is out there for any car going 190-200mph ? not very much... I think the Yellowbird Ruf has been timed 0-200 but that is about it. THe 997GT2 is all about stability at speed and that is why it is so slow accelerating over 190mph, I will take the stability all day day long, it is fantastic to experience - as can be seen by the 100mile trace above.... I have modified it to show the extreme speeds off a little better, check it out, that is bahn driving
