Default Track tires revisited

Track is about to start again and I was wondering if anyone has tried different tire combination.
275/335? BFGoodrich, Hoosiers, RA1?

Thanks,

Stephan

Do a search. You will find many thorough write ups on the Hoosier and RA1. A couple of other compounds to consider (depending on what you want in an R compound) are the Nitto NT01 and the Toyo R888.

Good luck!

From all I've read, the Toyo 888's don't last.

Hoosier R6's, they have 19" fitment, last and grip extremely well. So well in fact that I haven't been able to keep them from slipping on my wheels (under acceleration in the rear, and braking in the front) but we keep trying different things to keep them in balance.

Oh you asked about size as well, 235x35x19 and 315x30x19's work great on the narrow body car. The 235 Hoosiers rub the front fender wells slightly under full lock steering, so I don't think that you can go much wider maybe the 245's if you really wanted to. I run 2.3 degrees of camber and I don't think you can run much more of an offset than stock to get wider and still fit under the fenders.

Ry,

Come on, one more season. I have good news for you. Next year should be center lock wheels and changing all my tires will be less than one wheel on today's car!

ok

we've tried mpsc 315's no longer available in our sizes, next is the toyo triple 8's,than the daddies.

i heard some speak about the the nitto's has anybody tried these and are they available in 997 gt3 sizing.

at vir next mouth I'll run the hoosiers than in april at pocono north i don't want to spend hoosier money to run on that pos track so i was going to get a set of toyo triple 8's to run their, or try a set of nitto's if i can get some positive feedback on them

Check with the tire suppliers to the race teams for cheap tires.

They always have used R compound tires, I found that the Hoosiers the teams are throwing away have about the same grip as decent (Maybe not when in their prime.) Toyo's or Nitto's. A couple of hunders is better than $1500.00 per set for me.

Some used Hoosiers are faster than others, and some are a bit slower than the Toyo's etc when in their prime, but once they go off you get slower also.

With Hoosiers the production date is on the tires and most teams mark the tire with how many heat cycles they have.
