i love this forum . . . keeping the RS at home for special driving while taking out the ho-hum CLK BS for groceries. true car nuts.

I've been continuing to watch the market for these cars. The going rate seems to have dropped into the 70s if ebay has any credibility. No cars seem to be getting bids in the 80s unless sales are being done behind the scenes.

Cars w/ 5k miles = low to mid $70's
Cars w/ 2k miles = high $70s to $80
New Cars = low $90s
All assuming no paint work / perfect.
MB extended warranty 3yrs 75k miles total $3850 + tax.

AMGs have a known history of dropping value fast. Add in the miserable state of the economy and that no one seems to want to spend any money (even if thy have it) and you have the 'perfect storm' for buying one of these cars. At first I thought anything under $90K for a lightly used one was a good deal. I'll bet you can find one at $70K if you look for a little while longer. Prices seem to only be going down fast. I have yet to see a car fetch even $70K on ebay recently. I may be ready to buy one soon.

I know of two cars purchased in last two weeks: Black w/ 5k miles low $70s (mine), and a silver w/2k miles for $80k. Both fully vetted and perfect. Market for new ones reflects original sticker: $138k. Dealer cost: $115-117k. MBNA dealer leftover cash: $20k. Thus mid 90's for a new one. Two new ones available in Chicago and Texas - check Ebay or Cars.com. I suspect CLK Black has reached a slight plateau in depreciation. Now priced significantly less than competitors - GT3 or M6..

No news ones listed on ebay or cars
Am I overlooking a search?

The pricing sure makes it tempting.
Evosport is making some unbelievable power gains with some nice equipment. http://www.evosport.com/projects/mercedes/clk63black/
Still can't bear the thought of letting go of the GT3 though. Although this is aweful close...
