Launch Control
With all the discussion about GTR warranty claims, I was wondering if this could also be used for a buyer's advantage? How tough is it to read out launch control usage on a GT2 and can that info be cleared? If I were buying a GT2 I'd sure like to know if the previous owner, or even the salesmen on a new car purchase, had been using launch control on my potential GT2.

Often at Thunder Hill, occasionally at Laguna Seca, rarely at Buttonwillow and Reno/Fernley, will be at Sears Point(Infineon) for the first time in 20 years 4th of July. I wouldn't use LC if I had a GT2, but would be real interested in whether someone else had if I was buying one.

I have tried it out once but was relatively gentle with the clutch release ie didn't dump it full force, (this still gives an impressive start with the electronics working their magic) and the stress on the drivetrain felt negligable, these are very strong cars with components developed from many years of racing, I would not be concerened about a car showing a few launches....

At the PDK car launch, we were encouraged to launch the cars, again and again and again. The computers are smart enough to know when the transmission, etc. is too hot and will reduce the launch effectiveness and stress until things get back into check. This is for the PDK car of course, but I bet the GT2 has similar electronics to ensure reliability.
The only damage I could see one doing in the GT2 where the computer does not control the clutch as in the PDK cars, is if the end-user doesn't dump the clutch properly. If they slip the clutch, they could damage the clutch lining. That would be obvious from the smell!
