Market value GT3 VS RS
One day I need an RS.
I would have bought one new for the 15K over a regular GT3, but I was late to the party.
With the news on the new RS still scarce it is hard to know for sure, but I am not sure I will be comfortable with the regular engine, if that is what it will have when and if it arrives.
If I decide to pull my deposit on the next RS, I am looking for an RS with minimal options and 10K + miles and trade mine in +15K or so, this is based on the RS originally being 15K more and my '07 will have 10K soon. CPO would be worth another 3-4K to me.
Think it will be possible soon?

GT3s seem to be going for low to mid 90s these days, which is around 12-13% off of original MSRP. The RSs appear to be trading hands for around original MSRP. I would think it'll be a while before $15k bridges the gap. Good luck though.

Most gtx cars r sub 10k miles
Most gt3 are 95-105
Most RS are Msrp which is 135 in avg
Unless car has stories or owner is pressed, I don't see these numbers chg.
We can wait for SP to drop below 500 and unemployment to go 30% then there will b big bargains like 50k RS

I traded in my 08 RS right before the end of the year and got MSRP fairly easily and had back-up private party offers within $5K of MSRP.
Granted things are much different right now, but keep in mind most RS owner paid substatially more than MSRP than the GT3 owner. When I purchased my new 07 and 08 GT3 RS they were selling for $25K to 50K over MSRP while I could get a new GT3 for $5 to $15K over MSRP.

I agree that right now I am looking at about a 30K - 40k difference, do you see it get closer? Or maybe opposite, the RS is more collectable and the diffrence might get bigger..
It's a matter of time I suppose, in 2018 an RS will be 30K and a GT3 might be 15K...
I wonder what cash I need to add to my car by the time I would order an new RS, if I like it.

Good point, maybe that is where the differnce comes from. MSRP was theoretical for most current owners, that is why I made the deposit (Almost a year ago, Pre-crash) for the "next" RS at MSRP. The dealer has proven to keep the prioce at MSRP + I think in this economy the times of MSRP ++ are folklore...

i am guessing that the delta b/n RS and GT3 should narrow. both drops, but the reate of drop is higher for GT3. now for sure, but i dont see why the rate of depreciation should change. however, i dont has a crystal ball, just guessing

many RS owners paid over for their cars. but i dont see how that affect the future prices. the mkt dictates pricing, regardless of what your purchase price was.

Thanks Mooty, you have more experience and know more about this than I do.
I am very happy with my car and I would be fine with it if the RS did'nt exist.. Since it does exist, I have no choice but to obsess over it until I own an RS, or the next model ;-). Luckily I am patient..

Isn't it true that Porsche already has a newer iteration of the GTx cars coming out?
If true, prices for the current should drop as the new approach as they have in the past... I am hoping.

You may see RS advertised prices at MSRP however, I believe actual sale prices, (if any) are typically below.

Wait aren't you the guy that just dropped pic's of a totally awesome white racing GT3?
I'm in the same boat, don't need one but sure would like one. My GT3 is just fine for now.
I'll be patient and wait for the right one when I have the funds available.
Keep us informed!!
Aloha.

I'm seeing much of what was mentioned: Standard GT3's are going for $95-100k, but RS' are anywhere from $135k to $175k (so at or above MSRP). Granted I'm not in the market yet (another 5 years lol), but I'm trying to track the trend of depreciation. And, if I remember correctly (I think I read it on here), they actually sold more RS' in the US than GT3's, so the resale data isn't all lining up properly for us buyers (obviously the sellers are content).
