Default Matt Dillon Busted for Speeding More Than 40 MPH Over Limit

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

NEWBURY, Vermont — Actor Matt Dillon was charged with driving at an excessive speed for allegedly going 106 mph on an interstate highway, Vermont State Police said.

Dillon, 44, of New York, was pulled over by a trooper on Interstate 91 in Newbury about 10 p.m. Tuesday. He was driving a rented 2009 Chevrolet Impala.

The posted speed limit is 65 mph, so Dillon was charged criminally under a statute that bans going more than 30 mph above the limit while traveling 60 mph or more.

He is scheduled to appear in Vermont District Court on Jan. 21. If convicted, he could get three months in jail and be fined $300.

"We're trying to treat him no different than we would anyone else," said Sgt. Tara Thomas, a State Police spokeswoman.

Dillon's publicist, Staci Wolfe, declined comment.

Dillon received a best supporting actor Oscar nomination for "Crash." His screen credits also include "There's Something About Mary," "Herbie Fully Loaded" and "The Flamingo Kid."

No DUI's like all of the "looser" actors ........... Matt's da man !!!

My son got busted at 17 for 102 in a 65 in my truck - I know he wasnt going that fast the truck SCREAMS at 85mph and he was passing with 4 other cars. I had to get a lawyer and he got it reduced to 66 in a 65.
They work pretty good.

$300 bucks? as long as your lawyer can avoid the jail time, I believe the 30 over in a 60+ is the highest crime already since you are over 100... why not :P

I recently paid $220 for 55 in a 45, the cop reduced it on the spot from something over 70 (I was test driving a c4s pdk, there are only a few ways to feel the transmission you know)

Times have changed. I remember getting a ticket in VT around 1982 going 102 mph on Rt 89. It was $2 per mph over 55 (plus a reasonable base fee IIRC) which I thought was reasonable at the time. It was just a ticket and not a misdemeanor.

I understand that CT has the death penalty for going over 100 (ref Cannonball Run IIRC).

Default Goin to hell anyway you look at it...

It's about time that this here board converted to a Chevy-based forum. (Kinda like my cousin Ellie. Yeah, she use 'ta be a feller, but, well, times they are a changin'). In any event, well, damn, sure as hell took long enough.

What's with all this porcheee crap anyway? Our rockin chairs and our "Porchees" are what we all used to rock on afore we had any 'o dem new-fangled air-conditionin' thingies that all de o' damn yanks are a harpin' on. Damn yankee wimps.

Why, dear old mum could swat a fly with her porchee fan at ten paces without so much as a whimper, and uncle jed wouldn't so much as miss a beat on his dear old banjo all the while she was a doin' it!

Sure it was hotter than all damnation, but we was happy then, what with the family rockin', singin' and in genral enjoyin' the livin' crap outa them thar warm nights -- all out on our porchees. Well, ah spose thems what we'd call the good ol' days.

Any of you fellas track one of them 'thar new impalas? One helluva machine. Nascar or die, I say!
