If the Porsche website pre-owned system says "Certified Pre-Owned", then that means it has the extended warranty, not that they "did all of the same inspections but if you want the warranty extension it's $2k more..." That's just poor form to pull a stunt like that -- sounds like bait-and-switch to me and might violate some consumer laws in your state. As in my 1st response - a lot may depend on if you are at advertised price or something negotiated below that. If you are paying the advertised price and the advertisement says "CPO", then I think they owe it to you to honor it. If, however, you negotiated way down, then you may have an issue with making a claim for false advertising / bait & switch.

CJ,
Let me know when your back in town, sounds like you've been around the US 2-3x and every major track, you should have some good track stories. I was gonna surprise you with the new silver bullet, but the deal appears to be heading south..option 2 is wait until feb/mar and try to get a green RS..CPO'ed one of course..lol

Most Porsche clients do not keep their vehicles long enough to benefit from the warranty and that is why we let our clients elect to take advantage of it or not."

DRG13-

If this is a Porsche dealership, they are in violation of PCNA explicit warranty policy. - From the Porsche Academy - "All vehicles advertised for sale as Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) must have the cost of this inspection included in the advertised sale price..."

They are in violation of Porsche's own policy - a rogue dealership.

RSA- That's what I thought/assumed, but it appears the policy is left open to interpretation at the dealer's discretion..

I'm not nitpicking the $1990, I'd pay that all day long for the piece of mind. My issue is with the honesty or lack there of..

me, but i got tired of arguning with rocks or walls.

anyways, i was told starting august there abouts the new CPO is really like new car warranty covering everything.

previous cpo only cover drivetrain and major disasters.

likemystoppie may be able to shed more light.

First off, sorry for posting this in both 996 and 997 forum...but I needed the info quickly

secondly, I don't want to drag this out and keep kicking this dead horse..but here's the latest for anyone interested... here's the latest response when I asked to include the CPO in the deal...

Salesperson e-mailed the following:

"I have been working on getting the CPO Warranty included and I was able to get them to meet you in the middle. Let me know if splitting the difference will put a deal together."

DRG13-

Go for it, if it works for you. However, since I was formerly with Porsche, but not in a sales capacity, they are not telling you the truth.

Kind regards - Gerry

I'm passing on this one...

It feels like I'm buying at one of those "buy here, pay here" used car lots that sit behind chain link enclosed lots and the "staff" are located in an "office" on wheels (trailer)..

If its a great deal and a clean car, then go for it. Some dealers are easy to deal with, some are not. There are lots of deals out there and more to follow in this economy so don't get too emotional about it. Just make the best decision for you. Do you get the feeling that the dealer was trying to get out of the CPO or was is just a mistake?

Good for you! Are you going to pull the trigger? (no, I don't mean shooting the salesman)

Gota911 - My Porsche addiction (the little devil on my shoulder) is chanting buy it, buy it...it's a pretty good deal, $99K sales price, CPO'ed, PCCB's and low optioned besides the PCCB's..it's the color I want..

But my gut feeling is to pass this one up and keep looking. I just feel like my chain was yanked and that's not cool.
