430s are dead, will continue to drop, many available and more desperate sellers

and josh gt2 and 20 other guys i know whose financial positions are strong when things are truly, deeply ugly

by all reports, they new 2 can not be softened sufficiently to perform well on bumpy roads, so it may all be moot. and josh keeps flogging these cheap cgt's at me

With all due respect, the F430 is not dead. If you bought one at msrp you are fine. My 08 997TT has depreciated at a much higher percentage than my 07 F430.

I dont think Watt meant was they are dead. He meant dead in the context of my question. I have asked him lots of questions before on F cars and he knows what I meant when I asked him.
Are they going to keep appreciating? can you still buy one once on a list and drive one and turn it in two ears later get another for basically free? Thats what he meant.

The Ferrari party was like the party on wall street. when going well, and assets valued high, dealers force used cars on customers wanting on to their list at above msrp uber-premiums. ponzi scheme or thereabouts. but when the buyside demand falls off, the whole thing unravels.
the 430 should never have stayed at 30, 40, 50 over sticker for 2 year old cars...but the scheme worked and thats where they stayed. their steep decline in price over the past few months just reflects a catching-up of sorts.

ive seem f430s commanding 30, 40 over to beng 20, 30 under in 6months time. some dude on 6speed was selling a spider which would normally (or better stated, had previously) been sellign for big premiums, he had this thing a chunk under sticker.

the car itself hasnt changed one iota. its a fast, nasty , gorgeous looking and sounding machine. if you bought it for financial gain or stability, yeah, its dead. as far as its performance, that hasnt budged. its as strong as you felt it was when you bot it.

Actually, GT2 works very well on our road test loop, which has long sections at least as rough and tumble as your roads. Ask Josh, he knows the loop. GT2 is FAR more compliant and planted on the loop than current GT3, which I recall you liked but for your RMS joy.

I can also put you in touch with a very good friend who runs your roads all the time and knows the loop and NorCal roads very well. The best are at least as much of a challenge for a susp. system as Decker and the rest.

New 2 is very, very good on such roads, but it still ain't no C-GT.

My GP White CGT is NOT for sale However I did hear about a 13K mile '04 for $250K. And I'm with Pete, the GT2 suspension tuning is a big improvement over my former GT3 RS. The GT2 is an immensely capable car on backroads and turned some super fast laps at Sears with Johannes at the wheel. That being said I'd take a $250K CGT all day over a $210K GT2. As Pete said the GT2 ain't no CGT....

yes, thanks for gt2 correction guys, I was hearing from tyson at lunch today that they, as you say, are quite good, and presumably w/o RMS problems.

and yes Paul and spg used alot of words to describe what i meant by dead and getting deader [oversupply], in a market sense. One can draw an analogy between the F sales above window and the bad, fluffy assets that many F buyers traded!!!

and i cant wait to see Josh stuck on the 405 in his CGT, just funnin' that clutch!!!

Somehow I never expect my toys to make sense from a financial standpoint. The party is over on 2 year old F430s bringing over sticker. I suspect mine would bring a little under sticker. I expected Ferrari ownership to be fun, I never expected it to be cheap. :-) I like my TT but I don't think I would spend F430 money for a GT2. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks CrazyC.

BerryS, A friend of mine checked on the CGT and the vendor put the wrong price in his ad. Apparently the car is available at $350K. Sorry for the confusion.
