Default Seeking advice: Rubbing on of the rear wheels against the wheel well.

Hi Folks I am seeking advice in regards to rubbing on of the rear wheels against the wheel well.

It happens on both tires on the inside edge of my tires.

I have ccw14 18 inch wheels with 315 width.
I did not get the rubbing with my mpsc 305's

When I changed my tires the other day I found the rubbing marks on the top of the wheel well.

I have talked to other runnings 18 inch 315s and no one else is seeing the rubbing.

I brought the car into the dealership to ask them what they thought and they said I should raise the ride height.

Any ideas other than that?

Can the springs in the back be adjusted to be slight stiffer?

Thanks,
Greg

Default rubbing

Which tire are you running in the back? I'm running 315/30/18 MPSC on CCW's with no rubbing issue anywhere and plenty of room in every direction. My car is lowered about 15 mm's. I also run 315/30/19 Hoosier R6 without any rubbing.

Suggest that you run "firm" on your suspension and get your car corner balanced. Also, don't forget that the entire wheel well is plastered with rubber marks from the marbles that get thrown around in there like a child's spinning paint wheel.

Greg:

I am up in Stevenson Ranch (Santa Clarita area) and make the trip down to GMG in Santa Ana. In fact I was there yesterday getting new tires and alignment. They do excellent work and have the best equipment and personal. They also race and build what you have. I would give them a call and have them set you up.

I was running Nitto's 315/30/18
I am trying the Toyo r888 now.

I should clarify that the rubbing happens when I go over kerbs.

I always run on firm settings.

I did get the car corner balanced already.

Ill post a picture as soon as I can, but it is certainly rubbing and it is caused by going over kerbs.

Thanks,
Greg

Hiya,

I have met you a couple of times at SpeedVentures events

Good idea - I will call them.

The curb jumping may have knocked your alignment out. Mine was very close to my May alignment settings but I did have one wheel (right rear) out about .50. That would probably be enough to cause rubbing in your case.

not if they are rubbing on the inside...will move the tire inward...I think he meant did you remove them as then you would expect them to rub

That is what I meant. Sorry for the confusion.
