I'm actually going through the same thought process. I hate PSC's, have pretty much always run Toyo's because they're great for what I need...which is a consistant DE tire that will wear well. Though I'm not having quite the accellerated wear like mooty. I've got about 24 heat cycles in my R888's now and have about 2-3/32 remaining. They were heat cycled prior to use and 3 of my heat cycles were in the rain.
Since RA-1's aren't optimal for my car I"m actually thinking of trying some of the Grand Am Cup (or Koni) Hoosiers. From what I gather they're an endurance compound that's longer lasting and more consistant than the R6's that most guys run. They're obviously slower however which isn't as big of a concern of mine. But if I go that route I can't drive them to the track which is a move I"m not sure I'm ready to make either.

mooty also runs -3 camber all around on his, which might contribute to accelerated wear...lol
hey but in all seriousness- I just got a set of RA-1 and will be running them for the first time this weekend- what kind of PSI should I run with ambient temps being 90-94*F?

I just ran stock sizes R888 for the first time yesterday on my 996-3... using the board reccomended 36F/38R I was happy as could be...
The tires are great and depending on how they wear, I would buy them again.
Bobwoodmantires.com had the best pricing that I could find

One thing to consider, tire life is highly dependent upon driving style, alignment car set up, driving style, and track, all of which are variables it the tire performance. I respect Mooty and his abilities, and do not question his experience with the tire, I just think you have to do your own research to determine what works for you. someone else's experience my not fit with your skill. So, that said, I am going to give the R888 a try to see how it works for me. My 2 cents.

The title says it.
I need some help;
In 2 weeks I am going to Sebring and this is the first time on the track with this car and I never drove a rear engine car before.
I appreciate to see what you guys use for PSI while running 18" R888 on a GT3
In hot and humid south Florida would Nitrogen help?
It is my understanding that it is only the moisure that make the diffrence between air 78% Nitrogen anyway and Nitrogen.
I am not new to track event; In my Mustang during the summer, the pressure goes up 12+14 PSI in the RA1's, no problem as I new and adjusted for it, but now learning a new car, I think it would help if it difference is less.
Thanks for any help.
