Please let me know if these are getting to be too much, I know I've been posting a lot of track videos.
This is from Sunday this weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park, about 2.5hrs east of Toronto. We did the long track configuration, 4km in length. I really like this track, lots of fun corners and very safe.
Please don't go too hard on me about the lines, this track was new to me and this was the second session. I was still learning the lines and the track.
Session 2: Dry, learning the track, in-car: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pyAwTh2Kehc
Cheers!

It's insane, but they actually prefer that you not wear one because of some research that found a helmet in a street car without a cage, harness and HANS device may actually be more dangerous than letting the airbags, factory systems, etc. do their thing. I searched online and was unable to find any reference to this research.
This particular track is very safe, however if it had been at Mosport, I would have refused to drive without a helmet. Apparently, some groups run there without helmets as well. As you've seen in the other videos, I always wear a helmet, if given the option.
I'm thinking of getting very serious about safety and going for the half cage, seats, harness and HANS device as well as a race suit.

Seriously though, the tracks around here don't seem to have very long straights. At Mosport, the fast guys get up to 250-260km/h. The best I've done so far is around 240km/h. Shannonville is something like 180-200km/h, Dunnville is around 170km/h and Cayuga is perhaps a bit faster at perhaps 180km/h.
In the west coast, Pacific Raceways would have cars going 265km/h through the blind right and I'm not sure what my speed was at Portland, but it sure felt fast down the back straight.
Perhaps I need to try Watkins Glen to really stretch the GT3's legs? I wish we had a track like Hockenheim where you can be WOT for a long period of time.

It was actually quite hard on the tires based on the wear I saw, but then I did two days back to back so it's hard to tell which track wore the tires out.
In answer to another person's question, the organizers host this event only once a year, however another participant alerted me to touge.ca which hosts many similar events at Shannonville for similar money $50-80. If you're going to one of their events, let me know and I'll join you.
Perhaps I'm a wussy, but I really liked Shannonville. It had a nice blend of slow and faster corners. Without guardrails around, you can push the car and yourself harder than Mosport.
I'd like to try the Pro track configuration next time as it removes all the slow in-field stuff and leaves the higher speed outer section.
