I had read somewhere that the motorsport rotor was thinner. Is there any truth to this?

I have been using DeMan's slotted rotors since August. Definitely first-rate.

if you measure motorsport vs oem steel disc's with a micronmeter, yes, motorsport is thinner. but last i check the rough price difference was $250 per axle with motorsport cheaper. they last equally as long

I probably never get more than 25% of the wear out of a set of rotors as they crack up from track use before then. Therefore, I would say that anyone that tracks a car can use either OEM or Motorsport rotors and get exactly the same use out of each set.

I finally got some track time on DeMan's rotors and they are just as superb as the factory rotors were when new. I could not get them to fade at all in at least 30 minutes with the pagid yellows on hoosier R6's so they are a winner in my book.

The braking feels about the same initial and while at the threshold and allow me to use my well known braking points so they are just as effective and perhaps have a little more left if the tire would give it to me.

I will post back again after 5-6 more track days about the thickness and life expected.
