Ron your story is exciting and quite familiar to me. I too picked my 3 up from fellow Rennlister and great guy TRJ in Virginia Beach. I used Checkered Flag for my PPI and had the 10 hr drive home. It had me quite intimidated too, but what a dream on the track. Ron you made an awesome choice. My wife calls it my mistress. I certainly am in love with it.

I'm also in the process of doing the switch from 997S to GT2 (wanted a more extreme performance difference!) and took my 997S for one last run at Watkins Glen on Weds-Thurs with Group 52 (Check the on-board Camera):

You should still "fix" the alignment in the GT3 as we did with the 997S and increaase significantly the camber up front. At least to -2.7.

Enjoy it and let us know your impressions. From my seat of the pants the GT3 should almost 3secs faster than the 997S (same tires-alignment) at WGi, so you will soon feel pretty comfortable lapping in 2:12s. The max torque is very similar so the balance of corner grip / power grip coming out of corners is basically the same in the GT3 as in the 997S, with added grip from the stiffer suspension.

Nice car Ron. I went from a 996tt to the 997-3 and I would never trade back it is just to much fun on the track.

Hey Carlos, thanks for the feedback and tips. Right now the car is pretty much "factory spec" on alignment with -1.35 up front and I know I'm going to need more. I figured to take it easy at first to learn the car and then have Dan do a corner balance / alignment before fall events (I only have one 2-day at WGI between now and early September). Right now I'm "suffering" on 19" PSCups (Volks) from the 997S, which are really PS2s in disguise. Next up I'll run R888 to try those out - a buddy that ran them next to me at Lime Rock in another 997S got about 0.2 G more in lateral and braking force than my PS2s or PSCs could muster.

My factory alignment was WAY off and would have resulted in a pretty tricky car to drive had I gone to the track straight off the showroom floor. I had toe-in up front and toe-out in one rear wheel, while the other was toed-in. Would have made for some "fun" handling on left turns! I'd recommend getting it aligned before going to the track, assuming the previous owner hasn't done so.
