I dont want PDK- I love the Porsche 6 speed. I have driven a F1 360 albeit an older version of whats supposed to be the F1 level tranny in the 430 but I like to shift. I didnt like it.
DI? it depends on a test drive. Crisper response and more HP so you have to drive it to see.
but the styling is very close to what we have already. So I dont know that it warrants the $mula to
upgrade. its almost looks like a lateral move.

BTW I made a mistake. I do NOT have a deposit. I am on the list but they couldnt take a deposit yet.
I hope that helps and didnt mean to mislead anyone I was just typing fast and we always say we have a deposit instead of being on the list.

I read somewhere that PDK will weigh something like 90 lbs over manual (maybe it was 60)? Even if it does shift a bit faster than normal that kind of added weight would seem counterintuitive on the RS.

Yup, that is one of the drawbacks to the PDK/DSG trannies, they are definetely heavier. And yes, I have a serious problem with that. For that reason alone I would not go with the PDK.

I have a deposit on an MKII RS. But if I get my orange MKI RS, then I'm not sure what I will do.

PDK in the 997 this fall weighs 39KG...so just under 90 lbs.

I believe that the car shown is the regular gt3. they're not gonna release the RS version first...it makes way less sense! They want to sell as many total cars, so they release the "normal one" and then the special one 6 months later...just like computer technology. I'm on the list for both the next-gen RS and the next gen Carrera GT or GT-1 supercar...who knows how long that will be- but in the mean time I've got my fun cars to play with...

Since I won't be selling my Orange RS, I'll probably get the next one with PDK...just to have something different...Direct Injection on my RS4 is really cool- oh hey that's the same engine that the R8 has! lol. DI has similar tQ effects of a displacement bump...but with better fuel economy.

I'm also interested in the next gen- NSX, and the V12TDI R8 concept...

Yeah, it's about 85 lbs which really sucks. And I prefer manual anyway for street use. HOWEVER, the PDK will be a 7-speed. That makes it quite attractive, particularly at my 6000' altitude where shorter ratios can really help with the torque deficit. It's gonna be a dilemma for me when the time comes.

I am going to sit this one out and keep my 2008 RS, (probably permanently) . I am first on dealer list for the next gen. RS, (not the facelift), which should show up in three or four years I would guess.

Ditto for me. The RS may never make it to the US...no one knows for sure yet. Didn't make it with the 996 RS.
