Yep.
When I got my pads replaced on my 07, they gave me the 08 pads instead.
I guess they are better?

- don't think that is the answer as the 2007 part number is still active and available

- i do know that apparently there is an update ceramic rotor part number which they are asking for more money than the stock rotor - i have no idea if it is better or the same as the 997 ceramic rotor but it is a 996 part number so maybe it is a replacement part for 996 ceramic rotors

- was trying to order through the parts department the motorsport race ceramic pad and the thicker rear pad as it was detailed in a 997gt2 service note but Porsche hasn't yet included the part number in the system - my local guy phoned Atlanta and Atlanta told him to phone Motorsport and order the part - what a joke, he had to tell them the dealers aren't allow to order the parts - they had no idea - he even said that the parts were for a customer with an incoming GT2 who wanted to take the car to the track and they had no answer?

They Beverly Hills Porsche folks just put the updated units on.

I had VERY uneven wear on my pads.. front and back. the backs were all the way to the metal backings on the rears.

the rears wearing faster is the issue for sure
i'm hoping the 2008s may be harder
i have a question in to them but who knows if they will give a real answer

Turn off the TC and you'll have less rear pad wear!

A harder pad materiel with less friction sounds like a down grade to ultimate performance, not an upgrade.

- with 25 trackdays with the car, only the first 5 were run with TC on
- TC is not the issue, heat is the issue
- a pad better able to handle the heat on the track is what i'm hoping for (2'nd choice is a thicker pad - motorsport apparently has a thicker rear pad but the dealers can't get it - i'm hoping this is it)
- if you aren't wearing your ceramic rears faster than the fronts, then the tracks you are driving on are not hard on brakes
- i'm on my 4th set of front pads and 6th set of rears
- my car has 26,000km on it so i'm pretty sure i have good data

I *believe* (but I am not sure) that in fact the brake bias on the 997 was altered in favor of the rears (as compared to the 996) which would account for the increased heat/wear

Similar experience on my turbo, my rears were considerably more worn than the fronts when I changed them last week(~8 track days-pocono long and the glen mostly).
