Default check engine light after winter lay-up

it was my birthday last week, so despite some snow still being around I took out my car for the first time since late Nov. It was fabulous, and no problems starting or running. I took it out again yesterday (after 1 week of no use) and after 10 mins and 2 miles (terrible gravel and post ice-melt road break up on the road to my house) the check engine light came on. I filled the 50% tank with fresh fuel, but the light is still coming on 2 seconds after start-up. Any ideas what I should check? Dealer is a mountain pass away, and the roads aren't up to driving it there yet....

Default Battery?

I would check or charge the battery if it sat that long.

My c4s did the same when I didn't drive it for 3 months.

FYI....Porsche says that the battery is covered under warranty but only if the car is driven 6000 miles a year.

Aloha.

is the code p0503 by any chance? Get an OBDII scanner for 80 bucks and let us know what the code is and someone on here can tell you what it means. Then reset it

Might want to check the fuel filler cap...once I didn't have on tight enough and the check engine light came on. Generally though, these engines are sensitive to emissions type faults. Most of the time, if it's not a serious 'fault' and it has to do with the emissions algorithim on the computer, it will clear itself and reset in a day or two. If it doesn't clear, then a trip over the mountains for you...

Did you also get the PSM warning? That's pretty common after a battery disconnect. I think it should clear. It usually clears after a mile. Maybe you just need to drive further??
